I needed to pick up food for my brother's bird. I was disgruntled about work, and doing his shopping was the last thing on my mind. The parakeets screeching and macaws squawking did my ears no favors. I dropped the bag of seeds onto the counter unceremoniously with a heavy sigh.

"Heh, rough day?"

That voice somehow made my cheeks flush. It had a slight baritone growl to it that ran down my spine. I looked up from the floor with my eyes. Just enough to see tattooed biceps and a tight black shirt.

"Yeah.. Something like that yo."

He chuckled and leans on the counter, his chin in hand.
"Looks like you need a little pick-me-up."

I caught the hint, and hid my gaze, using the search for money in my wallet as an excuse not to answer him right away. I needed a good response.
"Well.." I made eye contact, a slight smirk forming on my lips. "Something like that, yo. You work well with animals?" I handed him the money.

"Oh yes love. I specialize in reptiles. You know... lizards and.. snakes." He gave me my change.

"Oh good~"

He handed me my receipt with a grin. "Check the back." He winked. "Let me know if you need help with that beast in your home."

I took it with a smirk and waved as I left, throwing the bird food in the car. I read the receipt. Luxord was the man's name.. and I wondered how long I should wait to text this guy.
