Prologue

"To start a new life, you have to leave the place you call home. I was faced with that choice and I chose to travel away from the city. Somewhere, I can start anew.

Why am I leaving my home? This city? I just felt out of place. How? Well, my past in this city isn't much to get so worked up about. My parents passed away when I was at a young age, so I had no idea on what they looked like, or even know their names. However, after their deaths I was taken in by an orphanage. I spent my time at the orphanage learning how to cook and clean. Trying to become an independent person. I have no qualifications, but I had an odd job as a waitress at one of the many cafes in this city. I could barely scrape up enough money, and that was including the tips.

Now, after so many years of working hard and saving up money. I was able to buy what I needed to start my new future, including the ticket out of this city. I thought about what I was going to do next when I reached the other city, working up a plan to survive in my new life. I thought I had everything perfectly planned out before I went to sleep. I can still remember how many times I played the events over and over again in my mind, ready to put into action. However, fate had decided my future a long, long time ago.

The boat I was travelling on was caught in a storm. I can't remember how it exactly started. I just remember waking up to the sound of thunder. The next thing I knew, I was drifting away from the boat, and out into the sea. The boat was split in two, caused by the lighting that struck its deck. I'll never forget that night, the night that I was thrown into the abyss of the unknown.

So where am I now? Well funnily enough, I was washed ashore on an island. At first, I thought I was the only one to have washed ashore on this tiny island, but a family of four found me. After a chat with them, they had promoted me to a farmer. A farmer. I had no skills in farming, but Taro promised to visit my house each day and teach me new skills. I was still nervous, but over time, I found myself enjoying my new career. So now here I am. This is my new life. Trying my best to make this island as popular as it can be.

At the moment Taro, Felicia, Natalie and Elliot occupied this island along with me, using the abandoned houses as their new homes. I guess some people had lived here before, and deserted it for some reason. I try not to think about why. It might have been something serious, something to do with why the bridges were down in this abandoned village. Maybe there's something in the forests on the other side of the demolished bridges that we are not meant to disturb. That sent chills down my spin, but still I found my new life here, unshakable. This island, my home, and my job. All of it made me feel like I belonged, for once. So not even superstitions could tear me away from my home here.

A few days went by, and more people arrived. Chen and his son Charlie arrived shortly after our arrival on the island, and opened a shop here in one of the abandoned houses. Gannon arrived after a week, and he even destroyed the boulder blocking the way to the other side of town. He set up a shop to do with building new homes and extensions. A couple of days and Mirabelle and Julia arrived, opening a shop to do with animal care.

It may not sound like a bustling little village, but we are getting there. This is my new life, and I plan to stick with it. Well, that was until fate called by again, and this time, it change me for good."
