Prompt #362 (Gene) Romance
"Thank you for giving me a chance with you." Reggie husked as he smiled across the table at his date.
"You have changed over time." Veronica smiled. "You aren't as annoying as you were in high school. You have matured." She smirked as she lifted her wine glass. Waiting for him to lift his to meet her slightly above the table. "Too new beginnings."
"Too new beginnings." Reggie smiled as he gently tapped his glass against her's. "Too new romance." He smiled.
"I can toast to that." Veronica gently tapped her glass against his once more; before bringing it to her lips. "So tell me Mr. Mantle what all do you have planned for us?" She spoke as she lowered the glass onto the table.
"Absoutly nothing." Reggie smiled easily. "I'm done with planning out a life with you Veronica Lodge." He set his glass on the table. "I want to see where this takes us. If we are truly meant to be ... then we'll know together. No planning; no tricks. Just trusting that we may have a future together." He tilted his head. "I'm not going to lose you for good by trying to woo you by planning everything out ... it took me a lot of years to figure out that isn't what you want in life." He rested his back against the back of his chair.
Veronica softly smiled at the man across from her. She was highly impressed how mature Reggie had become now that they were out of school. He had calmed down a lot from his teenage years ... and early college days. She was pleased at the man that he had turned into. "Thank you Reggie." She softly said as she felt a light blush play on her cheeks.
Reggie smiled. His heart beat a little harder for this woman across from him. He wasn't going to mess up this chance that he had with her. He meant what he told her ... that he hoped for a romance with her ... in fact he hopped for a long married life with this woman across from him. But he wasn't going to plan on it happening. He was willing to be relax and allow it to happen. If they were truly meant to be then they will be ... and they will discover this fact together. No matter what he wasn't willing to lose her from his life. If that ended up with a close friendship ... then he would be fine with that. As long as Veronica Lodge remained in his life.
