Aside Note: I tried writing this story a while ago, but it did not turn out as I expected so I stopped writing it. However, this is a story that demands to be written and I intend to see it through to the end this time. Wish me luck! Updates will be short like this and as frequent as I can manage.
Chapter 1: How The End Chases All of Us
Something had chased her all her life. She did not know what. She did not even know who. Only one thing was certain, someone wanted her dead. The fact that she was a wanted criminal may have been the reason for her many bouts with death. Maybe she just had bad luck. Or maybe it was luck that was keeping her alive.
She needed all the luck she had left to dart in and out of cars on a busy Tokyo street during the middle of rush hour. She could hear the horns, the angry curses from drivers, and even the screams of alarm. She was frightened, but she could not stop now. In her hand she held a necklace that was worth 550,000 yen. It was her duty to bring it back to Mr. Yua.
She would have liked to keep it. She had never seen such a beautiful necklace in all her life. She could hardly believe she was holding something so expensive in her hand. It was a large pink pearl strung on a silver chain. It felt cold and smooth in her sweating palm, like a glass marble.
Sirens behind the girl made her tousled black hair whip round. Were they chasing her? Of course they were, what other criminal besides herself could warrant for five police cars speeding down the street with their sirens wailing. Where could she hide? Her jarred vision scanned the outlay as she ran. A narrow alley to her right presented a possibility.
She slipped inside, and spotting a couple rusty metal trashcans, she hid behind them. She could hear her heavy breathing. With one eye peering beyond her concealment she could see the police cars as they flew past her alley. She let out a shaky breath as the sirens began to fade into the distance.
Suddenly, there was the feel of cold metal on her wrist and the sound of a loud click. Her head spun round. There were two men wearing white shirts, bullet proof vests, and a helpful name tag which read "police". Their hardened eyes stared at her with the full gravity of the law.
"Young lady, you're under arrest for the theft of this pearl necklace…"
