Danny stared at his hand in shock.
"You ok, little bro?" Jazz asked from the driver's seat. She'd only gotten her license last week, and thus her eyes were glued to the road. She must've heard his gasp, but thank goodness for the teen's big sister being paranoid.
"You're a horrible driver." Danny deadpanned. In reality, he was trying not to flip out, trying not to catch her attention. The teen's mind raced as he felt his hand move, but saw nothing. Why did this have to happen to him? Why not one of his parents or someone who could actually deal with everything? Danny Fenton; he was just 14, after all.
"We'll see how well you drive when you're my age. Maybe you'll finally grow up." Jazz taunted, her eyes still locked onto the passing street and signs.
"Better than you, I hope." He snorted flippantly. But it was just a cover. Inside, Danny was a mess of nerves. Especially the nerves he could still feel in his hand. There was a bit of a dull chill throbbing in the limb but it wasn't too horrible. Danny barely even took note in his feverish state.
The boy's heart was racing so loud that he could hear it in his ears and knew he'd have to calm down or Jazz would hear it too. A moment of deep breaths and trying NOT to panic, Danny's arm reappeared. It was good as new, like Danny's arm hadn't been a stump three seconds ago. With a sigh the teen let his muscles relax and he leaned back into the seat. There was still a hint of tension in the air but it lessened as Danny's secret remained just that- a secret. One that no one could, or would, ever find out. The boy rested easy.
Little did he know, one day the whole world would be privy to his secret. Little did he know, one day he would wish he hadn't kept it a secret for so long. One day, he would wish he had kept it secret. But all days, he would enjoy the feeling of utter freedom as he vanished from the visible plane, observing the canopy of stars above his head as he laid on a cloud.
