Hinamori Momo knew all about the dangers of beds. They were innocent sorts of things, always lurking about, looking cute, soft, and, on winter days, especially cozy. But, the second you rested on them, even just to close your eyes for a couple seconds, you could nap the day away, totally oblivious to anything that might be happening around you, like important meetings with teachers or outings with friends.

Hinamori Momo was especially cautious about this danger, always making sure she had an alarm clock (specially ordered from the Department of Research and Technology) so that she'd never sleep any longer than she intended to.

This, of course, was all well and good. All well and good save for the fact that alarm clocks were tricky things as well, often conspiring with beds to make sure you slept extra-long. Which, Momo supposed was good in that you got extra sleep, but quite dastardly because you never knew when beds and their partners in crime, alarm clocks (and sometimes especially warm days that often tempted with nice afternoon naps), would strike.

And so, when her best friend, Shirou-chan entered the academy, she had one goal in mind (after making sure his uniform fit just right and had just an teensy bit of growing room, because she was certain he was going to have a growth spurt any day now, surely). She, Hinamori Momo, had decided that she would find Shirou-chan the most non-evil bed she could find.

There were lots of beds in the dormitories, of course, and she had long learned that they were safer than most beds, particularly because they were old and had forgotten how to be so terribly tempting to nap in. However, the freshman dormitories had recently been renovated. There was no telling how freshly evil these new beds would be.

So, Momo had set out bright and early that morning, determined to test them all. The tests were, of course, simple. She'd lay down on each one and see how long it took to make her sleepy. The bed that took the longest time to become sleepy in, was obviously the best bed for Shirou-chan.

Bed after bed underwent this rigorous test, being noted on her notepad in a most through fashion. Shirou-chan had always told her how disorganized and absent-minded she was. He'd be impressed with how much she'd improved since entering the prestigious academy, even if he had responded to her placement in the honors classes with a disparaging (and cute!) 'Che'.

But as time wore on, she noticed a trend. Each new bed seemed to make her even sleepier than the next, until finally she closed her eyes to succumb to a nap on one of the more particularly evil ones.

When Hitsugaya found his errant friend, dark hair peeking over the sheets of the bed she had been tested, he had to sigh and set down his few belongings and the fresh new academy uniform, still wrapped in the brown paper he had gotten it in. He flipped through the first pages of her notepad and looked back down. He had his work cut out for him. What could he expect from the academy if it made his dippy friend even dippier?

He sighed, settling on the bed and shooting her a grumpy look. There was no point in waking her up if she had exhausted herself. He'd just wait until she got up.

And if he succumbed to the evil of the bed with her, he'd just be sure to wake up before she did.
