Author's Note: Welcome to the follow up story to "Ronins on the Hellmouth" which is officially called "Through Dangerous Times". Feeling dissatisfied with how the series finale of Ash vs. Evil Dead ended, I felt compelled to do my own version of the season 3 except Ash and his team the Ghostbeaters will be teaming up with the Ronin Warriors and the Lady Ronin Guardians. For the record, this is set six months after the events of ROTH. Here we go!

Through Dangerous Times
Six months have passed since the Ronin Warriors and the Lady Ronin Guardians defeated their enemies Talpa and Glory in the hellmouth called Sunnydale. Ten of them returned to Toyama, Japan while James Ferino, the bearer of the Eliminator Armor, had a brand new assignment not too long after the others went home in a small town of Elk Grove, Michigan. He had no idea why he was sent there but he moved there with his wife Twyla. They also had no idea however they were living next door to hometown hero Ash Williams.
While waiting for the evil to show its face, James had been in the backyard training preparing for what was to come and when he was not training, he spent his time with Twyla.
"It's hard to believe that this small town would be the location would be the source of the evil that is coming this way." James spoke up.
"Let's not forget that Sunnydale is also a small town, dear James." Twyla replied.
"True, but Sunnydale is on a hellmouth, Elk Grove is not."
"To think about it, I heard some things that this town had been plagued by zombies but our next door neighbor had been the one who saved the town from the zombies he called Deadites." Twyla explained.
"We dealt with Hellmouth like things before." James replied, "We can't rule out zombies or Deadites whatever they may be called. Local newspapers are not known for spreading false news you know."
"You're right about that."
They both suddenly looked at the television screen to see that Ash was on there advertising the Grand Opening of Ashy Slashy's Hardware Store Emporium.
"Well won't you look at that." Twyla spoke up.
"Local advertising. That's something you can expect from a hometown hero." James added.
Not too long after that, the couple were watching an Antiques roadshow hosted by an elderly man with grayish white hair wearing a mustard yellow suit as a pretty girl with orange red hair wearing a pink sweater with a white skirt, white stockings and white shoes appeared on TV.
"And last up we have Amy, who I'm told has made a startling discovery." the man announced as Amy walked over to him with a large book, "I see here Amy that you discovered this item..."
"In the mud." Amy spoke up.
"In the mud." the man acknowledged as James and Twyla saw that the book had an evil face on its cover.
"James," Twyla spoke up, "I don't think that's any kind of book."
"You're right." James replied, "I don't like the look of it either."
"Is it a spellbook?" Twyla asked as the couple saw evil writings when the man opened the book.
"Not a for good witches if that's what you mean."
"I see you found a book written in Ancient Sumerian," the man on TV said, "Curious."
"Does curious mean valuable?" Amy asked.
"This appears to be some sort of descriptive passage." the man continued on as he looked at the book more. Then he proceeded to read the Ancient Sumerian writing which set James off.
"That man does not know what kind of evil he is about to unleash!" James shouted.
"What do you mean?!" Twyla asked. They noticed as the lights flickered in the house as the man continued with the reading.
"I knew it!" James exclaimed, "He's playing with Supernatural fire!"
"What kind?" Twyla asked.
"It's the Necronomicon Ex Mortis," James explained, "Known as the Book of the Dead. It holds many spells and incantations, and if someone reads this out loud, it will connect the demons of netherworld with our own!"
James and Twyla both noticed that the programming to the TV show had been cut off after that man unleashed the evil to the mortal world.
"This is bad." James looked at Twyla, "We will have to tell Ash about this stat."
Like Ash Williams has a chance against me.
James was startled by the female voice that spoke to him telepathically.
Who are you? James asked the voice telepathically.
I shall put these in words that you mortals will understand. I am known as things such as Demon Woman of Fire or Fierce Mother From Hell but in these beknighted times, they just call me Ruby.
Look Ruby! I don't know what you plan to do with Ash or this town, but it's not going to work.
And you're going to stop me how? I know who you are James Ferino, Ronin Warrior, bearer of the Armor of the Eliminator. As for my plan, once Ash Williams is dead by my plan that I have in progress, the universe as you know it will be swallowed into darkness.
You wouldn't dare! You're not going to kill Ash Williams! You hear me?! I won't allow it!
James lost telepathic signal from Ruby before looking over at Twyla who looked at her husband in concern.
"James," Twyla asked in concern, "What's wrong?"
"Some chick by the name of Ruby sent me a telepathic message," James answered, "She plans to have Ash assassinated, probably in a demonic sort of way."
"Oh no!" Twyla exclaimed in shock, "We have to get to Ash now!"
"Exactly what I had in mind." James nodded. The two hurried out the house and headed over to the hardware store to find Ash.
