This will be a series of one-shots, just moments between Hotch and Prentiss.

"Son of a bitch!" Emily hissed as the paramedic applied more alcohol to her head wound.

"I'm sorry ma'am," he apologized. "This one is particularly nasty. Hold still, please."

Emily clamped her eyes shut to keep from shouting at the man who was only doing his job and clenched her fists. Of course, she had to be the one to get hit over the head with a shovel. Just perfect. Hotch would probably throw a fit and keep her out of the field for weeks.

"Where is she?" a familiar voice demanded.

Wonderful. Speak of the devil, and the devil shall appear. Emily sighed as Hotch shoved his way through the crowd of police officers, agents and paramedics to make his way over to her. Concern flooded his normally stoic expression as he finally reached her side.

"Hey," she smiled weakly.

"Hey yourself," he replied dryly. "How bad is it?"

"I'm fine."

Hotch looked to the paramedic currently stitching her up for confirmation and he gave a nearly imperceptible shake of his head. Emily glared at him, mentally reminding herself that it was not a good idea to punch your paramedic in the throat while he was stitching you up.

"I came as soon as I heard," Hotch assured her. "They wouldn't tell me if it was your or JJ, just that one of my female agents had been injured."

"Sexist bastards," she muttered.

Hotch's mouth twitched at that and Emily grinned.

"Thanks for coming," she breathed quietly. "I was really scared-lying on that warehouse floor wondering if anyone was going to find me in time. I thought-"

"Don't," Hotch shook his head. "Don't ever think that someone from this team won't come for you. I will move heaven and earth to get to you if you need me, do you hear me?"

Surprised at the intensity of his words as his eyes burned into hers, she just nodded. He gave her a small smile then, his hand hesitantly reaching out to encase hers. She stiffened for a moment, before relaxing and flexing her fingers around his.

"Thank you," she whispered.

He just squeezed her hand gently, telling her everything he couldn't say with words. She squeezed back, letting him know that his message had been received.
