Chapter 1

Blue Toad stood with Bartre at a port. "Welcome back, Mario Total Drama fans! We're back from a break after the last season, and our massive forty-five person cast is raring to go!"

Bartre looked at him. "They are?"

Blue Toad shrugged. "Well, at least I hope so. We shall introduce them now. To make things not take forever, we'll introduce them five at a time."

Bartre smiled. "Sounds good to me. Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy and Yoshi!"

Mario waved. "Hi everyone! Great to be back. I hope I stay for... slightly longer than previous attempts."

Luigi smiled. "Don't worry, bro. As long as we actually get put on the same team for once, nothing can go wrong!"

Peach sighed. "You say this every time. You do know that you're not going to be on the same team, right?"

Daisy hugged Luigi. "I hope I'm on Luigi's team!"

Yoshi smiled. "Well, I'm feeling somewhat optimistic about this one. That's either dangerous, or good."

Blue Toad nodded. "Great to see you. Next up, Aqua, Wario, Waluigi, Bowser and Donkey Kong!"

(Note: Aqua is an OC, a light blue Yoshi)

Aqua frowned. "I've never been on a boat, so this should be interesting."

Wario shrugged. "Eh. It's nothing special. Kind of like driving, but more wobbly."

Waluigi curled up on the floor. "Waluigi gets seasick! I hate this already!"

Bowser scoffed. "Weakling." He looked down. "But I do get a little seasick too, so no-one rock the boat."

Donkey Kong smiled. "Alright, I've been out of action for a while, but I can still pull off some sick moves! You watch, I'll be the best Kong that this show has ever seen!"

Blue Toad raised an eyebrow. "Doubtful, but you believe in yourself! Next up, Zelda, Bowser Jr., Fawful, Cackletta and Rosalina!"

Zelda folded her arms. "This is going to be a ride. Just hoping that I'm on a team with at least halfway competent people."

Bowser Jr. scoffed. "You should watch out, because I'm back! That's right, the best villain has returned from the bench!"

Fawful pushed him over. "You are best at falling! I chortle at your dismay!"

Cackletta sighed. "I'm surrounded by idiots. What else is new, I guess."

Rosalina chuckled. "I say, Cackletta, I do hope we get to be on the same team. Your magical capabilities are spectacular, and I'd like to see how things would go if we were to cooperate."

Blue Toad smiled. "Very nice. Now for Toadsworth, Toadette, Link, Midbus and Kylie Koopa!"

Toadsworth looked at the boat. "Goodness gracious me! That vessel barely looks seaworthy! It is not safe enough for the princess to set foot on, can you imagine the horror? THE HORROR!"

Toadette pointed. "You're looking at the wrong boat. The one we're actually on looks quite nice actually. A nice change of pace."

Link waved to Zelda. "Hey! Zelda! Hi! I got this sweet new tunic. Like it? It's blue."

Midbus glared at him. "Do you mind not blowing out my ears?" He punched a wooden pole, causing it to break. "Splinters? ARGH!"

Kylie took several pictures. "This'll look real nice on my blog!" She walked between Toadsworth and Toadette. "Group photo!"

Blue Toad frowned. "Don't use up all your film right away..."

Kylie winked. "Oh, I planned for that, so this bag I have here? Filled to the brim with spare cameras." She gave one to him. "Little souvenir."

Blue Toad put it in his pocket. "Thanks. Now, moving on, Diddy Kong, Corrin, Rosella, Sakura and May!"

Diddy Kong waved. "Hello! It's been a while, but I'm sure I can hold my own still. Forgive me if I'm a little rusty in the first few challenges."

Corrin fell over. "Aah!" She jumped up quickly. "Hi everybody! I see Zelda's here, nice. Oh, and Link too! Wow, looks like everyone's here pretty much!"

Rosella folded her arms. "Well, if you actually listened for once, you'd know that this is the gimmick!"

Sakura frowned. "Don't fight, please. We only just got here."

May nodded. "I'm with Sakura here. Let's not fight, at least not yet!"

Blue Toad sighed. "This is going to be a long season if that keeps up. Next up, Loki, Claire, Mudkip, Sylveon and Braixen!"

(Loki is another OC of sorts, my cat IRL made into an MTD character.)

Loki looked around. "It's been a while, guys. I can't really say it's good or bad to be back, really."

Claire smiled. "Hello! I'm not sure why no-one seems to remember me, but I'll do my best anyway."

Mudkip frowned. "I hope I do good."

Sylveon looked at him. "I'm not sure you have much of a chance, to be honest. There are a lot of the big shots here."

Braixen slapped Sylveon's back. "You know, we could maybe not destroy our friend's confidence right at the start?"

Sylveon smiled smugly. "I'm nothing if not honest."

Blue Toad nodded. "Riiiight. Next is Treecko, Popple, Birdo, Ashley and Mimi!"

Treecko folded his arms. "I'm glad the eliminations are quick this time. Looking around, I can see many people that I dislike."

Popple laughed. "And then there's me, see? I'm different, right?"

Birdo sighed. "I never thought I'd be part of this ever again. But, here I am. Let's see if I don't go completely crazy this time." She looked at Zelda. "But with you here, that's a challenge in itself."

Zelda made a face at her.

Ashley looked around. "This is a strange place. I sort of miss Red, but I can hold my own."

Mimi scoffed. "My loss last season was a fluke!" She smiled. "However, I've changed my ways. Now I'll play an honest, fair game!"

Blue Toad shook his head. "Like I'd believe that for a second. Now, for some of the other complete newcomers, Kyoko Kirigiri, Azura, Fir, Dimentio and..." He chuckled. "Yellow Toad."

Kyoko looked across the cast, with an unchanging expression.

Azura smiled. "Glad I could join my sisters on this show. I just hope things go smoothly."

Fir cheered. "I'm here! Hi dad, I'll be winning for you!"

Bartre smiled at her. "Good luck, Fir!"

Dimentio chuckled. "I too, wish you good luck. In fact, I hope everyone here gets what they want out of this experience. Ahaha."

Peach's expression darkened. "He doesn't look like he's playing with a full deck."

Yellow Toad grumbled. "This is unfair! Why am I a contestant, when I should be the host! I could do it much better than him, or that muscly guy!"

Blue Toad grimaced. "Nice to see you too. Finally, Prince Peasley, Pauline, the Ruined Dragon, Mona and Robin!"

Prince Peasley flicked his cape. "Ahaha! The prince has arrived! You may swoon if you wish. And I might do an autograph if you're lucky!"

Pauline waved to Mario. Mario waved back, much to Peach's displeasure.

The Ruined Dragon looked mildly uncomfortable. "I'm... not really used to being around people, and with this shrunken form of mine, it's especially weird. But, I'll return back to normal soon, right Rosalina?"

Rosalina looked slightly unnerved. "I can neither confirm nor deny if that will happen."

Mona took some pictures. "Alright! Here with the cast of Mario Total Drama! It's a dream come true!"

Robin gave the other contestants a small nod, and then continued reading his book.

Blue Toad smiled. "And that's all forty-five contestants arrived! Now, you can get into five groups of nine. For once, you guys get to pick the teams."

Corrin ran over to Zelda. "Hey Zelda! Want to join me, Sakura and Azura?"

Zelda nodded. "Sure! I'll bring Link too."

Link laughed. "My tunic is blue now!"

Peach gasped. "Ohh, that's going to be a strong team." She looked to Mario. "Let's join this one."

Mario nodded. "Okay."

Pauline followed them. "I'll be on your team, Mario."

Peach frowned, but then put on a smile instead. "Welcome to the team, Pauline!"

Luigi looked over. "Woah, that team is almost full. Eight out of nine?"

Bowser slid over to the group. "I'll be in Peach's team!"

Zelda looked at Peach. "Oh, so you think you can just join my team?"

Peach shrugged. "I guess?"

Azura frowned. "Come now, Zelda. Let them join."

Zelda rolled her eyes. "Fine."

Luigi sighed. "Of course. Mario's team fills up immediately."

Daisy hugged him. "Well, you still have me!"

Luigi smiled. "That is true." He waved to Yoshi. "Hi Yoshi! You'd be a good addition to my team! You always are."

Yoshi nodded. "How can I resist an invitation like that?"

Aqua followed. "I'll join this one too."

Wario laughed. "Hey, Waluigi! I'm joining Yoshi's team, because we're good friends. Come with me, or don't. I don't really care."

Waluigi sighed. "Waah. I'll come with you, but that... hurt my feelings."

Treecko scowled. "I'd rather not have a team to be lumped with, but I suppose Wario is the one I'm most connected to here, for some reason. I'm not up for another season hanging around Braixen though."

Dimentio floated over to Mimi. "Hello, Mimi. I think we'll be a good pair for any team!"

Mimi glared at him. "Drop the act."

Dimentio laughed. "Ahaha. You've always been a clever girl. We should make an alliance, but take some idiot to be our 'leader', if you follow."

Mimi looked over at Bowser Jr.. "I've got just the person in mind." She yelled at him. "Hey, brat!"

Bowser Jr. looked cross. "What do you want?"

Mimi smiled. "We think that your alliance in the first season was really great."

Bowser Jr. laughed. "Well, thank you."

Dimentio grinned. "Why, look. There are three of us here. That's a good number for-"

Bowser Jr. pointed at them. "You chumps are in my new alliance! You should be honoured to have this opportunity."

Cackletta looked at Rosalina. "Hey, seeing as we're pretty decent friends, do you want to be on my team?"

Rosalina nodded. "Of course. Should we have Toadette too?"

Cackletta frowned. "She hates me."

Rosalina smiled. "Things change." She beckoned Toadette over.

Toadette walked to them. "I guess."

Toadsworth gave Fawful a pat on the back. "I say, my good friend, shall we join Rosalina?"

Fawful nodded. "I am agreeing!"

Robin looked around. "Let's see... Bowser Jr. has a strong looking alliance, yet Rosalina has a balanced team." He smiled. "I think together, we'll make a fine team of nine."

Bowser Jr. glared at Cackletta. "Great."

Cackletta rolled her eyes. "Of course."

Midbus looked across the remaining cast. "Let's see. Diddy, Kylie, you're people I know. Want to be in a team?"

Diddy Kong smiled. "Of course!"

Kylie ran over. "I thought you'd never ask!"

Loki saw Claire walk up to her and jumped. "Aah! How did you sneak up on me?"

Claire frowned. "I said your name, like, twice though."

Loki looked at her. "Guess my ears are playing tricks on me. Want to join Midbus' team?"

Claire shrugged. "I guess, yeah."

Popple looked at Birdo. "Hey, uh... you seem nice, and we've never really talked, so-"

Birdo gasped. "Oh my gosh! You're the first person to want to talk to me in ages!"

Popple frowned. "That's really sad, see?"

Birdo shrugged. "I guess we should join that team over there, with Kylie and that. She's my friend."

Popple nodded. "Sounds good to me."

Birdo fluttered her eyelashes at him. "Also, are you free later? I'd like to go on a date."

Popple blushed. "Ehh, maybe? I'll check my schedule."

(Confessional)

Popple- What's a polite way of saying 'never in a hundred years'?

Fir gasped. "I can't believe I'm here with the big names, like Corrin, or Mario!"

Popple whispered to her. "Hey, kid. I'm more popular than that Mario kid, see?"

Fir frowned. "Really? I've never heard of you."

Popple grumbled to himself. "Well, I've never heard of you before either..." He composed himself. "Nyah, I mean, of course! Don't you know that there are a ton of popular people that you've never heard of here?"

Fir smiled. "I suppose. I'd never heard of Luigi before I came here."

Popple looked confused. "Wait, really? Not important. I think you'd fit perfectly on my team!"

Fir nodded. "All you need is to ask!"

The Ruined Dragon followed her. "You seem to know what you're doing. I'll hang around you guys for a while."

Sylveon looked around. "Ack! Three teams are full, and one is getting close! Does that mean I'm stuck with-"

Braixen jumped up to her. "Hey, friend!"

Mudkip waved. "Hello, hello!"

Sylveon sighed. "Good to see you."

Kyoko looked around. "Hmm. I'll wait it out a bit longer before joining a team. That larger one doesn't particularly appeal, but it does have strong competitors."

Mona cheered. "Hey! You're the new girl, aren't you? Want to join my team?"

Kyoko looked at her coldly. "I'll think about it."

Rosella looked at the teams. "May, do you want to fill that team?"

May shrugged. "Nah."

Rosella frowned. "You'd rather be on a team with the Pokemon?"

Donkey Kong grinned. "Yes! And then all five of you can accept me onto your team!"

Rosella sighed. "Alright, I guess."

Donkey Kong grabbed Ashley. "And let's bring Ashley!"

Ashley glared at him. "Release me immediately before I set your tie on fire."

Donkey Kong dropped her. "Aah! Anything but the tie!"

Ashley smiled. "Very good."

Luigi looked at the remaining choices. "So... let's see what we've got. Kyoko, Mona, Yellow Toad or Prince Peasley?"

Daisy thought about it. "Well, I don't really want Yellow Toad."

Rosella stepped in. "We'll take Mona and Kyoko onto our team."

Prince Peasley looked cross when he reached his team. "I was waiting for someone to pick me, but this works, I suppose."

Yellow Toad folded his arms. "I shouldn't be on a team. You know where I should be? Hosting!"

Kyoko walked to her team. "I'll do what I can to support this team."

Mona sighed. "Aww, I wanted to be on Wario's team. He's just so cool."

Rosella looked confused. "Did you hit your head or something? I mean, Wario? Cool? Don't make me laugh."

Blue Toad smiled. "Looks like you're all in your teams!"

Team 1- Mario, Peach, Zelda, Link, Corrin, Sakura, Azura, Bowser, Pauline

Team 2- Luigi, Daisy, Yoshi, Aqua, Wario, Waluigi, Treecko, Yellow Toad, Prince Peasley

Team 3- Bowser Jr., Fawful, Cackletta, Rosalina, Toadsworth, Toadette, Mimi, Dimentio, Robin

Bartre grinned. "Now for the hard part! Come up with a good team name."

Peach looked around. "So... five of us are princesses. Should we work that into our team name?"

Zelda thought about it. "Hmm... so we're princesses, Bowser's a king, Mario and Link are heroes, and Pauline exists."

Corrin smiled. "So I think we should be the 'Existing Princesses of Hero King'! Sound good?"

Bowser frowned. "No. As I'm king, my vote overrules all of yours! We'll be the Bowser Baddies!"

Mario shrugged. "I'm not feeling it."

Bowser smiled. "Are you a king? No? Too bad!"

Blue Toad nodded. "Got it down."

Luigi thought about it. "Team names..."

Yellow Toad ranted. "I should be host! I wanna be the host!"

Daisy put tape over his mouth. "What? We all wanted to do it."

Wario laughed. "Seeing as this team is much better than my old teams, I think it should have a better name! Golden Zeroes!"

Aqua nodded. "Could use some changing, but it's a good base. How about... Brave Heroes?"

Yoshi thought about it. "Best of both worlds, call it Golden Heroes."

Waluigi gasped. "I love that name!"

Blue Toad gave them a thumbs up.

Rosalina looked across the group. "So, a good number of us are skilled in magic arts. Let's go around that as a base. Any ideas?"

Robin flipped through a tome. "There's got to be inspiration from here. Sorcery... strategy..."

Cackletta snapped her fingers. "Sorcery! Good word! Now, give me another word to alliterate."

Bowser Jr. yelled. "Don't I get a say in this?"

Mimi shrugged. "I don't know, they seem to be onto something."

Dimentio smiled. "How about Sorcery Stars?"

Toadette nodded. "Seems decent, I guess."

Rosalina looked surprised. "Wow, Dimentio, that's actually pretty good. Let's do that one."

Blue Toad nodded. "That is good, you're right."

Midbus sighed. "Any of you chumps got a plan?"

Birdo smiled. "Wouldn't it be cool if we, like, didn't have a team name?"

Popple frowned. "What would they call us then?"

Birdo looked down. "And my idea has fallen."

Diddy Kong smiled. "What if we had something that's the first letter of all our names?"

Kylie shook her head. "No vowels to work with, and it would be hard to pronounce."

Fir smiled. "I think that 'grand' is a good word."

Loki nodded. "Agreed. How about Grand Conquerors?"

Midbus sneered. "Sounds over the top. I don't like it, but sure. It's the best we're going to get."

Blue Toad nodded. "And the last team?"

Rosella sighed. "Their ideas are so good! Where do we go with this?"

Sylveon shrugged. "I suppose we look at our teams qualities and go from there."

Braixen smiled. "Seeing as we're the team of people who weren't chosen, we should be, like, 'And The Others', or something like that."

Kyoko frowned. "I'd rather that our name has at least some dignity to it."

Mona nodded. "I agree. How about we go for something like my old band name? The Hot Slices! I had a band on the side of my pizza delivery thing, you see."

Ashley shrugged. "I don't like it."

May sighed. "Oh, this really isn't easy. Has anyone else used a star yet? Yes? Darn. I got nothing."

Rosella held her head in her hands. "You guys are all a bunch of fools. Fools... You know what? Let's just be the Foolish Fools. Foolishly Foolish Fools, even!"

Braixen looked confused. "Since when were you Franziska von Karma?"

Rosella shrugged. "What can I say? I like her style."

Kyoko sighed. "Why did I sign up to this again?"

Blue Toad smiled. "So, it sounds like you're all decided. That's good. Your first challenge will be soon. For now, we will depart on the boat!"

The contestants moved onto the boat. It was quite large, fitting as it had to fit a lot of people on it.

Blue Toad nodded. "And with that, I think that's all for this episode. With all forty-five contestants into their select teams, what could go wrong? Find out next time in Mario Total Drama Travellers!"

Chapter 1 is complete! Starting a new season is always an odd experience to me, but a good one. With this cast, it'll be hard to guess who will be victorious, but feel free to guess!

With a massive forty-five person cast, I think that these end cards could serve a bit more of a purpose. Introducing the 'Character Origins' and the 'Contestants Remaining' lists! I'm aware that in the past there has been some confusion about what series characters have come from, so a compact place with all the details should be handy. For the second one, keeping track of all of the contestants is a near impossible feat, so having a list of who's still in, and on what team would be handy.
