The Doctor sat at the kitchen table drinking his usual cup of morning tea. As his companion entered, he nodded to her and said, "Good morning, Rose."

"Good morning, Doctor," she replied brightly as she reached into the cupboard for a box of cornflakes.

"Jackie-boy still sleeping?"

She didn't answer right away, then, "Mm, maybe."

"Rose?" The Doctor was immediately suspicious. "What's Jack up to?"

She only smiled conspiratorially at him as she sat down with her cereal. "Oh, you'll see."

Before the Doctor could respond there was a cry of, "Avast, me hearties!"

The Doctor turned to see the other man standing in the doorway dressed to the nines in full pirate get-up: an eye patch, a pirate hat, a stuffed parrot strapped to his shoulder, and even a fake peg leg.

"What's all this about, then?" the Doctor asked curiously.

"Arrgh, scallywag, it be International Talk Like a Pirate Day, it be," Jack replied enthusiastically, brandishing a plastic cutlass.

The Doctor raised an eyebrow at Rose across their breakfast. "International Talk Like a Pirate Day?"

"Apparently it's a very popular holiday in the fifty-first century," she informed him.

"Am I going to have to put up with this all day?"

"One more comment like that, an' I'll be forced to make ye walk the plank!" Jack crowed.

"In other words, yes," Rose supplied.

The Doctor groaned and dropped his head into his hands. "Oh, boy."

Rose grinned and slapped him on the arm. "Relax. At least it's only a day."

"Arrgh! There always be next year, lassie."

"Tell me this is nightmare."

Rose laughed. "Nope."
