Why Mermaids Don't Exist

Disclaimer: I do not own Kingdom Hearts or any of their characters alright, so no sue me, thankies!

Once apon a time there lived a beautiful, little girl named Kairi. She was a very sepcial girl because she

had the power to reason with anyone or anything, even plants and animals. She could also swim extremely well,

and loved exploring. She was also a mermaid in disquise and she had decided to live among the humans to find

her true love. She lived on a small island called Destiny Island with her friends. She had two very special friends

though, and their names were Sora and Riku. Sora was Kairi's age, while Riku was slightly older. Kairi knew

both Sora and Riku admired her, so one day she told both boys to go out and find a gift that would reflect how

they really feel for her.

One evening, after exploring the island, Kairi, Sora, and Riku met up at their usual spot, their sacks on

their backs, filled with a secret gift for Kairi. "So, what have you found Riku?" Kairi asked. Riku then pulled out a

shinny piece of crystal that gleemed like the sun, in the shape of a heart. "I found this for you Kairi. For so long,

I've had my eyes on you, so please accept this gift and be my girlfriend. If this isnt enough here, I present you

with these gold stones that I found, perfect for a girl such as you. If these are not what you desire, I have also

found this lovely rare blue rose, something of such beauty belongs with you Kairi." Kairi smiled at the gifts, true

they were all lovely, but nothing she couldn't get herself.

"What about you Sora?" Sora knew he hadn't found such nice gifts as Riku, but he knew she would like

his gifts the best. Sora pulled a star shapped fruit from his bag and showed it to Kairi, "Kairi, I present you with

this Palpu fruit. If you share this with me, out destinies will be intertwined forever. Also, I found this small salmon,

which wasn't easy to catch but I knew you loved animals, so please Kairi, choose me." Kairi also smiled at the

gifts, but she couldn't help but not be impressed by the gifts. The Palpu furit was abundant on the island and she

could easily catch a larger salmon herself.

Kairi found herself with a delema, and told to boys to leave her to make her decision. It took her all night

and the next morning, she called the boys back to their meeting place. "Sora... Riku... both of you are wonderful

friends and I know that both of you would be wonderful partners for life. But I only have one question for you,

will you accpet me, if I looked like this?" Kairi, then glowed with a bright like and transformed into a old woman,

wearing tattered clothing and a cain. Both Riku and Sora gasped, and stared in awe. "I wouldn't be able to love

an old woman. How will our children look, you're not even a good looking old woman" Riku said with disgust on

his face. Sora also stared, speechless, unable to think or say a word.

"So that is your response? Then I shall return to where I came from and never return, but befor I do, I

shall show you my true form." Kairi then glowed once more and jumped into the ocean. There, her legs changed

into a giant fin and her hair grew long and wavey, her chest grew aswell, and finally she sprouted small fins where

her ears were, but over all, she was even more beautiful than before. Riku and Sora gasped again. "Because of

your selfishness, I shall returned to where there are creatures that do not judge as harshly as you two do. I

thought that you would have loved me either way, but humans are all the same, and for that, I will tell all my kin to

never return to the surface" and with that Kairi swam away into the ocean and not another mermaid was seen

again.
