Author's Note: I know this chapter is short and very to the point (or at least I hope it is) but the story is more in depth and you'll be happy to know that I know exactly where I'm going to go with this one. I hope you find it as interesting as I think it is.
Law and Order: Special Victims Unit
Phenomenon
Chapter 1
There is a First Time for Everything
Olivia's Point-of-View
I remember very well the first time I flash-forwarded. It was the first day of summer, June 21, 2009 and we were stuck in the precinct on a case. It was late and everyone else had somewhere to be, except me and Elliot. I was walking down the empty hall and I saw Elliot coming towards me which was impossible because I could have sworn he was just in the squad room two seconds ago. That was when he called me baby.
I gave him a weird expression.
"Olivia nobody is here." Elliot said leaning in and kissing me on the cheek. As wrong as it was it felt so right.
"Elliot are you drunk?" I asked him even though I'm sure I'd smell it. Elliot could drink five shots and not feel bit tipsy.
"What? Olivia you've only had a beer last night."
"Last night?" I was completely confused.
He looked mortified "You're kidding right?"
I put on my best confused face and it was no act.
Elliot put his hands on his head, rubbing his male pattern baldness. "You don't remember it." He said those words like it was the end of the world. "Do you at least remember what I told you?"
"Elliot the only thing I remember about last night is going to bed…alone." I told him. He looked like I tore his heart out and crushed it. I was curious though, "What did you tell me?"
"I told you that I loved you." He explained to me.
"Elliot you're married." I informed him, I just remembered her…his wife. His kids, now that would just crush them.
"That's what you said last night…" Elliot said with the hurt in his eyes again. He wasn't looking at me but I could see the hurt, or was it my brain fabricating it for me?
I took the chance to kiss him, not really caring about the cameras, this had to be a dream anyways….didn't it? His lips were so soft and he was a very passionate kisser. It was the best kiss ever. He knew just when to put his tongue into my mouth, and what to do with it. I finally came to my senses though, and I pushed him away.
"Kathy," that's all that I had to say.
His arms fell from their place on my shoulders down to his sides. "You and I both know that….that relationship won't work."
"Elliot we work together. Everything is against us." I said
"You said that last night too." He informed me.
I closed my eyes. "I wish I could remember. I really do."
"She doesn't expect me to come home tonight." Elliot informed me, "I told her we caught another kidnap case."
"We know what that's going to lead to." I said protecting myself from becoming more of the mistress than I already was.
"We'll just talk and sleep, we can be adults about this."
"I don't think that's a good idea." I knew that I couldn't keep myself under control with him at my apartment alone. He belonged to Kathy, and as much as I didn't want to keep it that way, it was the right thing to do.
He nodded and started to walk away. I went home to my apartment, seeing things that were different. I looked at the date on my phone. It was three months from the day I was supposed to be on. Three months from the present.
