Another request by tate310, this time it's "Thomas, Percy and the Mail Train" from Season 3. Enjoy and comment.
Every night, when the other engines are sound asleep, you can hear the faraway call of an engine's whistle, and the clickety clack of train wheels turning.
This is the sound of the mail train. One train is pulled by Thomas, and the other by Percy, because the loads are too heavy for one train to carry alone. The mail is loaded into freight cars at the harbor, and the engines pull their trains throughout Sodor, delivering the mail.
On a clear night, the full moon brightens their journey, but often Thomas and Percy can't see the stars. But wherever they go, lamps help them see.
One night, Percy was waiting impatiently at the junction. Henry was running late.
"I'm sorry Percy" he said as he puffed in. "The mail boat from the mainland was delayed"
"Come on Percy!" said his driver, "let's make up for lost time!"
Percy puffed along as quickly as he could, but the sun was already rising as he finished his work.
"It's nice to be working as the day begins and there's no one around!" said Percy.
Percy wasn't alone for long. Harold the Helicopter was flying up ahead.
"Bother!" said Percy. "It's dizzy Harold!"
"Good morning" whirred Harold. "I always said railways were outdated and slow. You should give it up"
Percy was too tired to explain.
"Birdbrain!" he muttered.
Duck was already awake when Percy arrived.
"Good morning Percy!" he called. "You're up early this morning."
"You're wrong!" said Percy. "I'm back, tired and late!"
He fell sound asleep before he even reached the inside of his shed.
That night, Thomas was waiting at the station for Percy.
"Bad news. Sir Topham Hatt is very cross that the mail wasn't delivered last night on time!"
"It wasn't my fault!" replied Percy.
"I know, but tonight we'll have to be quicker than ever!"
The engines were just leaving, when they saw Harold the Helicopter landing.
"Did you hear the news?"
"What news?" said Percy crossly.
"They're going to replace the mail train and use me instead! Wings are better than rails you know!"
"Rubbish!" huffed Thomas.
That night, everything ran like clockwork. Thomas and Percy managed to deliver all the mail on time.
When they arrived at the station, they saw a man looking cold and worried.
"We can give you a ride!" said Thomas' driver, "but it will be cold and uncomfortable!
"Thank you!" said the man.
The next afternoon, Percy passed the airfield and saw Harold.
"Hello lazywings! Are you too tired to fly today!"
"The wind is too strong!" grumbled Harold. "I've been grounded."
"Then you need rails!" laughed Percy.
That night, Sir Topham Hatt showed the two engines a letter from the man.
"He is very thankful that he got a ride, and says the mail train is the pride of the line!"
