Blaze Thunderwand was riding the carousel in the Fairgrounds with his friend Melody LifeFountain happily. Melody's new pet dragon was following them in circles around the ride, he had a bored expression as he flew beside them lazily. Blaze suppressed a laugh at the bright pink bow that Melody had stuck to his head. The poor dragon had been horrified when she put it on him but appeared to have resigned himself to his fate as he had yet to try and remove it.

"You know you still haven't given him a name, right?" Blaze commented, Melody gasped at the realization.

"Oh! No! You're right! How could I forget something so important!" She quickly hopped off the mettle unicorn she'd been riding and snatched the dragon from the air looking at him seriously. Blaze could almost swear her heard the poor thing gulp in fear as she stared at him.

He hopped off of the storm shark he'd been riding as it came around next to them.

"I'm gonna name him Mister Fluffy!" She announced happily, Blaze snorted into his hand as the dragon gaped at her in horror.

"No, you're most certainly not! Do I look fluffy to you?" The dragon sputtered out in terror.

"Oh, I guess you're right… You aren't very fluffy, are you?" Melody conceded with a pout.

"Okay, how about…" Melody continued to list off name after name, each more awful and cutesy than the last. The dragon shook his head quickly at every name she chose while Blaze was trying not to laugh at the poor dragon's plight.

Melody seemed to be getting a little frustrated as he turned down each name she tried. It was clear she couldn't understand how anyone could possible turn down the opportunity to be called "Baby Boots" or "Mister Daisy" she thought the names wear absolutely wonderful and was sad that the dragon didn't agree.

"Maybe I can come up with one he likes." Blaze said after a little while, finally deciding to try and help the poor dragon. Melody smiled happily at his suggestion.

"Okay!" She handed me the dragon as if holding him was an absolute requirement for me to name him. I held him awkwardly as he squirmed in my hands. He seemed just as uncomfortable with the arrangement. I decided to keep holding him though as to not disappoint Melody.

"Alright, how about Smoky?" The dragon paused as if considering the name for a moment but shook his head after some thought.

"Spike?" He paused again but shook his head. At least he wasn't turning them down outright. That was a good sign I was on the right track, right?

"Hunter?" The dragon considered the name and after a moment smiled a sharp fanged grin.

"I guess I could live with that one." He replied, Melody instantly squealed with join snatching the dragon now called Hunter from my arms before placing a kiss on his scaly green head.

"Hunter! It's perfect! Come on, Hunter! Let's go show you off to all of our friends!" She began running towards the Pet Pavilion with Hunter cradled in her arms. He looked scared again and I followed behind a little slower as I watched them race ahead.

I can't say that I blame him, I'd be scared to if I was forced to be her pet. I'm scared of her enough as it is and I'm just her friend!

Authors note:

In case you couldn't tell, I based these characters off of the young wizards depicted in the Abracadoodle sketch that goes along with the storyline of Wizard101.

I wrote this a birthday gift for my friend goxeris. Happy birthday, pal! :D
