I don't own Pokemon or any of the characters, sadly...

He didn't love Gold. Really, he didn't.

That's what Silver was trying to convince himself of as he watched his lover's blood melt with the ice and snow. It had all been because of an order from his father. "Eliminate all of the Pokédex holders." It was as simple as that for Silver, one of the top executives of Team Rocket. He'd taken out Yellow. He'd taken down Crystal. Hell, he even managed to take down Dia and Emerald. This, as a start, wasn't good enough for Giovanni. But Gold…Gold was one of the most formidable opponents that Team Rocket had ever faced. And now…now that deed was done.

Silver had asked him to join him near Blackthorn City for a…date, Gold had assumed. He was rather happy with how the day had gone thus far. They had a nice picnic along the path just barely west of the city, and were quite comfortable with each other's presence. That's when Silver requested of two things before he had to head out for the night… The first thing (to which Gold very happily obliged) was a kiss. The second…a battle. It seemed normal enough. It had been quite a while since the two had battled, so Gold thought he'd test how well his lover's training had been going on the side of evil. But…

Though Gold wasn't really concerned that he'd been poisoned… He just took it as an over calculation. But no miscalculation could go this far. Silver continued the relentless attacks far after all of his love's pokémon had fainted, and were out of the battle. No…there was no misstep that could taken for this to happen. Gold screamed to the air, tears falling wherever gravity would take them as a brainwashed feraligator hurled him into the sky. "Why? Why are you doing this to me?"

No matter how many times Gold shouted at him for an answer throughout a seemingly endless fall…or even through watching the most important person in his life crash to the ground, impaled by a stalagmite that his own Pokémon made…No… No matter what Gold had said, no matter how much he begged for an answer, wasting his last breaths on finding the answer to a curious betrayal… Silver never found an answer.

He swore he wouldn't cry. He swore he wouldn't even let a single tear come from what he had just done. His lover was gone, and it was his fault. He wouldn't blame his father. He wouldn't blame Team Rocket. He wouldn't even blame himself. It was his job. It was his mission to erase all threats, and he would complete each and every last detail of his horrid mission. There was no time for sorrow. There was no time for misery. He would complete his sole purpose… The same purpose that his father had created to recreate the world.

He would not be happy with it. He wouldn't be happy with anything unless his Golden ray of light was there with him.
