"So what are you here for?"

The girl looked up, somewhat puzzled at why the woman sounded so far away. And she kept looking up.

And up.

And up...

She shrieked, knocking herself and the chair to the ground.

"Hey, whoa. Easy, easy. I'm not going to hurt you," said Susan, her hands held in what she hoped was a placating manner.

The girl looked up, so very small with her pigtails and school uniform, her eyes wide with fear. "H-Honto ni?"

Susan's brow furrowed. Japanese, huh? She though back to her youth, specifically to her next-door neighbor who had married that nice Japanese man. She smiled to the girl. "Honto," she said gently.

Slowly, the giant woman sat down on the floor, so as not to scare the girl further. "Can you speak English?" she asked slowly. Keeping the poor kid calm enough to adjust would be hard enough with their difference in size; mix in a language barrier and she'd have to call in Dr. Cockroach. Remembering her own reaction to the roach-hybrid PHD, she winced as she imagined what the newcomer would do to the oft put-upon "mad scientist".

"Y-Yes, I can," the girl answered quietly. She was still very afraid, but she didn't seem like she was going to have a panic attack anytime soon.

"So," said Susan, a bright smile on her face. "namae wa?"

The little teen flinched.

Smile still in her face, she gestured to herself. "Hajimemashite Murphy Susan."

Still silence.

"So how about it?" she continued, "one girl to another. Please?"

"Y-Yuriko."

"While it's not the best place for this sort of thing," said Susan, gesturing to the stell and concrete walls of the common room, "I'd like to welcome you to America." She reached towards Yuriko, her index finger extended. Hesitantly, Yuriko took it. She shook it.

"So why are you here anyways?"

Now seated in the chair, Yuriko gave Susan a shy smile. "I show you," she said in halting English.

Tiny aurorae erupted beneath her as she rose away from the seat.

"Wow," said Susan, "I wish I could do that sometimes."

Then more aurorae flared up around the metal table. Surrounded it as it rose to Susan's eye level.

"I'm officially impressed, Yuriko. Are you...psychic?"

Smiling widely, Yuriko nodded. "Yes, I am."

"Could you lift me?"

Letting the table float to the floor, Yuriko nodded. "I will try."

"Do or do not; there is no try." Susan winked.

Yuriko laughed.

"Now I want you all on your bes- good god! Susan?"

"Hi Dr. Cockroach! I'm flying! Wheeeeeeee!!"
