Diclaimer: I don't Naruto or any of its characters.

Author's note: This is my first Naruto fic and I'm sooo excited about it. Basically it's a story about Naruto and Sakura and how they couldn't be together.

One-shot

Pairing: NarutoxSakura (NaruSaku)

Enjoy!

He is busy signing and reading papers in his office. He feels tired, but is sure that Shikamaru will come at any minute and bring new papers to him. Seems like he will stay up all night again. It's something that has become common now and Hinata doesn't worry where he is anymore. Boruto doesn't care and Himawari understands that his father has duties to fulfill and a village to protect. His mind wonders off to Sarada Uchiha now, his best friends' daughter. She looks a lot like Sasuke but her attitude reminds him of Sakura. Sakura's a strong woman. She has taken care of Sarada all by herself, becoming both a mother and a father for her. What he doesn't understand is the fact that Sasuke still doesn't return home even if his mission is finished. Doesn't he want to spend time with his daughter? He would give anything to be able to spend some time with his kids.

He starts thinking that it would be better if Sakura hadn't married him.

And would you be any better?

No he wouldn't, but he would at least give it a try like he was doing now. He tried at every chance he got to spend time with Hinata and the kids.

Sometimes he would thing of her. The kunoichi with the best medical skills in the world, the one who could punch anyone who came in her way and the one who saved his life. He had had a crush on her all his life and after the war dismissed it as a thing he and Sasuke rivaled over. So he turned to Hinata. But even though he tries to forget Sakura he cannot. He thinks about her when his making love to Hinata, when he strokes her hair imagining it's light pink instead of dark blue. He thinks about her when he checks the hospitals of Konaha if they need anything. He thinks about her when he is giving a speech, thinks. how she has motivated him all this time. And at last he thinks of her when he sees Sarada, sees it in the way she talks or how she says Shannaroo just like Sakura. He sees it when Sarada told him she doesn't want to be like her father, but wants to be like him.

Now is too late. He should have thought of this a long time ago. If he had tha chance he would repeat everything from the beginning and never give up Sakura again. But is too late and the only thing he can do now if watch her from afar, as only a friend because he couldn't reach her.

Thank you for reading! :)
