After her daughter is threatened,Clary Lightwood must take her daughter Hailee and flee Idris leaving her husband Jace behind. As the years pass Clary raises Hailee as a shadowhunter in secret.As time passes secrets are revealed in many ways.

Prologue

"Hailee shhh!" hissed Clary Lightwood. It was 1:17 am on October 31st 1990. She was holding her 6 year old daughter Hailee Lightwood in her arms, they were both terrified. They were suffering an attack from Clary's evil older brother Jonathan. Clary's husband and Hailee's father, Jace Lightwood, was upstairs fighting for their lives.

Suddenly the cellar door burst open. Clary held Hailee tighter, fearing her brother. She saw a shadow then heard Jace whisper her name urgently. She sighed with relief then showed herself.

He knelt down and hugged her and Hailee. He pressed his stele into her palm and whispered "Go! Make a portal and go!"

Just then they heard footsteps. Clary felt the tears pool in her eyes. She hugged and kissed him quickly. As Clary drew the portal, Hailee hugged and said her goodbyes to her father. The portal appeared. With one last look at Jace, Clary grabbed her daughters arm and they both disappeared.
