Silent Lovers.

That was the best way to describe the relationship between Carlisle and Esme, unlike their children they refrained from sharing to much affection in front of anyone and chose to share their upmost intimate moments when they knew they where both alone. They were never usually seen apart, his hand in hers, his arm around her waist or her hand on his back, they where always near each other, even when they had time to themselves they never really were apart.

Their love was admirable, the twinkle in their eyes, the smiles that they share, anyone could see that they were bound not just by marriage but by the soul, they were both respected by their equals and never usually got into fights with each other. Whilst explosive fights may happen among the other couples, namely Rosalie and Emmett, their fights were quiet, calm, kept behind closed doors. The couple would sit in Carlisle's office, talk respectively to each other and work through the issue, just like they did through Bella's pregnancy.

The family where torn during that time and of course Esme had conflicting thoughts to Carlisle, they did not fight though, they spoke to each other, understanding how they both felt through the situation before coming to compromise, it was the way they worked everything out. After years of marriage they never found fighting to be the answer, not after Esme's past, even when she had some of her worst days Carlisle would always speak to her calmly, try to figure out the problem and work it out.

That's how they remain so strongly tied.

Through patience.

Since Bella had joined the family along with Renesmee, everything was perfect, the family felt complete and once again and after the adventures the Cullen's had went through, their lives became more peaceful and serene. Edward and Bella lived respectively in their own home and the other couples remain in their home, of course, it wasn't long before they had to move. The Cullen's moved approximately a year after Renesmee was born, their next destination would be Oregon, a mountainous area that had its fair share of breathtaking views and opportunities, they found it to be the perfect place, with a hospital for Carlisle, a school for the kids it was the perfect home for a while.

Esme set her mind to the new home project, a large a beautiful home away from the city but located near the mountains, just by a lake that was surrounded by tree's, the home was large, with open windows, carved features, it was almost like their old home but with a few new touches and much more space for the other couples. After a year of building the Cullen's settled into their home with ease, the school took them all in and Carlisle found a job at the hospital nearby, soon becoming known as the angelic doctor, admired by many nurses and doctors.

Bliss.

Sitting within the living room, a book perched on her lap, Esme stared down at the story before her, the house was quiet and the rain outside relentlessly pelted down on the windows, it was a Monday, the beginning of the school week and as usual everyone had vanished, it was just Esme and the house. The rain seemed to be the only thing standing between her and a good walk through the mountainous forests, she closed her book and stared out in thought, wondering, it wouldn't be ladylike for her to go out there but then again she was a vampire, she could go out there without any affect, besides, no one would tell her other wise, times had changed, she may be old fashioned but a little rebellion now and then couldn't harm anyone.

The mother smiled to herself and stood up, she sped to her room and slipped on some boots and a coat, just in case a human were to spot her and wonder why she was out in the cold and rain without the proper clothing, she zipped back down to the ground floor and headed out to the forest, the rain already hitting her pearly skin as she dissapeared into the trees, the sounds and smells soon over came her, the scent of damp wood and mud filled her nose along with the sound of the rain hitting the trees and eventually the ground.

Esme took in a breath to greater the scent.

Forks, that was it reminded her of, she was so used to moving but there was something about Forks that made her wish to go back, maybe because that was the place Edward finally became complete, the place her family grew once again, the place that she met Bella. Trudging through the forest Esme smiled to herself and tucked her hands in her pockets, admiring each detail this new place had to offer, it wasn't much different to Forks, scenery wise, she thought it would help Bella get used to her first move away from home if she stayed somewhere that almost resembled the old Cullen house.

Esme stopped by a small rocky climb, she leaned against the tree contemplating for a moment before she began to climb with ease, keeping wary in case any humans where nearby, it wouldn't be very nice to be caught speeding up the mountain. The woman reached the top and took a seat on a rocky edge, admiring the view, from the stretch of trees that were all wet from the pounding rain, the grey clouds that stretched over the sky and the faint glow from the light of their home that was tucked away, not to far from the home was Bella and Edwards cottage, unable to be seen she knew it was still there.

After moving Bella wanted a home just like the cottage she and Edward had, so they built one together, not to far from the Cullen's but far enough for them to have their own privacy, it was a lovely place, the perfect little family home. Esme smiled to herself, dangling her legs over the rocky edge she closed her eyes, deeply breathing in to enjoy the scent once more, she paused for a moment as a scent she recognised mixed into the soothing forest smells, a vampire, an unknown vampire...

The mother raised a brow and sprung up to a crouch, she wasn't one for attacking but if the scent was unknown she knew it was better to be safe than sorry, her eyes darted around as she locked onto the scent, it was getting further away, fleeting from the territory, she began to relax, believing it was nothing more than a passer by, she climbed down the mountain and decided to head home, just to be safe.

It only took a few seconds before she arrived and headed in, speeding straight up the stairs to change her clothing and dry her hair, humming to herself she finished changing then quickly dried her hair, her eyes drifting to the clock at sat above her and Carlisle's bed, it was almost time for the kids to come back, almost time for her home to be filled with sound again.

Esme smiled and headed down, she took a seat on the sofa and picked up her book, opening it to the page she had left off at, despite her speedy abilities she always found joy in reading at a humane pace, it passed time. Beginning to read she allowed herself to indulge in the story, her golden eyes reading each printed word, consuming each sentence, days like this were rare since she often went to town to keep up appearances but on occasion she would relax and allow the day to drag, just like today.

A half hour passed and the door flew open, each of the Cullen vampires sped in, with the exception of Edward, Bella and Renesmee who went straight to their home. Esme closed her book an looked up smiling as her children piled into the living room, Emmett took a seat on the sofa and turned on the television, after greeting his adopted mom.

"How was school?" Esme asked softly, looking to her equals as they all wandered in.

Rosalie took a seat near her mate "Boring, some of the teachers are a little sexist." She muttered "But whatever."

"Would you like me to go an talk to them?" Esme asked a concerned look forming on her features.

"Nah." Rosalie replied with a small smirk "I can handle it."

The caramel haired woman raised a brow at her daughters expression but decided not to ask, her attention then went to Alice and Jasper, both who looked slightly concerned. Esme instantly felt worried, like something dreadful had happened, she buried it down and smiled to them none the less, asking them how their day was.

Alice looked to Jasper softly then to Esme "Can I talk to you somewhere private?" She asked lowly.

Esme noticed her daughters odd change in mood and stood instantly, she nodded and led her out to the other side of the house, where the library sat, she closed the door and turned to Alice who rubbed her arm slightly, her face set in a worried frown.

"I had a vision." She began "It involved you."

"Okay." Esme mumbled softly "Is everything alright?"

Alice shook her head "I wont tell the others but I saw you being chased by an unknown vampire, he caught you and the vision ended there."

Esme took a few moments to take in the news before slowly nodding "Alright, don't tell the others." She mumbled softly "I'll talk to Carlisle tonight."

The girl nodded "Promise me you will look out though."

"Promise."

Alice grinned and quickly hugged her mother then quickly vanished out to see her mate who anxiously awaited outside, once she had gone Esme leaned against the table, she pursed her lips in thought. The scent earlier was of an unknown vampire but she had assumed it was a passer by, if this vampire posed a threat they would have followed her scent but they had left straight away, she shook her head softly and stood up to make her way out.

Alice has been wrong before, it could have been anyone chasing her, it could have been a play fight, not that she found joy in fighting, unlike her sons. Perhaps she should be careful, at least until Carlisle gets home, they could discuss it then, providing his day was not stressful, she did not want to add to his stress by telling him that she was going to be chased by a supposedly 'unknown' vampire.

She would have to talk to Carlisle.

It would only be a few hours before he came home anyway, until then she would have to wait, spend some time with her family before hand.
