Has anyone ever stopped and thought about how important a heart beat is? It brings life to all living creatures, not counting plants of course, and when it stops, life will stop. Have you stopped to appreciate your heart? After not feeling mine for over one hundred years, I am sure to stopped and thank it at least twice a day.
I stared out the window of the train, leading me to the city of Ningenkai. I was being shipped off to my aunt's house while my parents "worked on their marriage". I sighed, turning back in my seat to stare at the people who accompanied me in the car. My dark blue eyes scanned the train car spotting two old ladies, four high school girls (who were giggling to one another), and a boy and girl sitting across the aisle to the left of me. The boy was tall, at about six foot, with dark slicked back hair and brown eyes. He was fighting with the girl to his right about school. The girl had the same color hair as me but much shorter. Her eyes darkened to a dark brown as she retorted back to his stupid comments.
I smiled to myself. 'Oh, young love,' I thought to myself as I giggled quietly.
I closed my eyes and smiled to myself. Soon, I would see my aunt's face as she greeted me at her shop. She would say, "Kim, so good to see you. Now I can fire my old employee. Get to work!" Oh, how I love that old bat. But, I would not be working at this store nor would I see my aunt's smiling face. Sadly, this next series of events would change my life forever and it began with the phrase, "You stupid jerk!"
I turned my head just in time to feel a punch go through my cheek. A surge of pain shot through my whole head as if I was just hit by the train itself. I fell to the floor, suddenly feeling very dizzy. I looked up as people gasped and were starting to form a circle around me. I stared weakly at the blurred masses around me with great pain. But, before I slipped into the black, I heard a small voice say, "Don't worry, we will get you some help."
