Chapter One : The Breaking News

Gan Ning was lying on the grass. How boring, there's no war. No fight. Suddenly he misses his life as a pirate where he could spill as much blood as he wants. Gan Ning smiled sarcastically to himself. What a life.

Gan Ning closed his eyes, the sun shined so bright today. And just when he thought he would fall asleep, he could felt something blocked the sun. He opened his eyes slowly and found a girl crossed her arm and giggled at him.

"There you are!"

The girl scanned through the green grass field, "So…this is your hideout? No wonder nobody could find you!"

"Except you." Gan Ning slowly got up and sat beside her, "What's wrong?" Gan Ning looked at her miserable face.

"…I was engaged."

Gan Ning was speechless at the moment, but after learned what he heard, he laughed. Out loud.

"What's so funny?!" She pats his head.

"I just…can't believe someday you'll marriage. I mean a half girl half boy like you finally-"

"Enough." Shang Xiang stood up in anger, "I regret told you these."

Gan Ning realized what mistake he just made and he quickly pulled Shang Xiang's hand. Force her to sit beside him, "Sorry."

They silence for a moment and Gan Ning tried to break the ice.

"So…who's that lucky guy…" he asked curiously.

"Liu Bei. Liu Bei from Shu." Shang Xiang looked down.

Gan Ning could feel rejection from her tune but he really doesn't know what to reply. I think I'll keep my mouth shut and listen to her, he thought to himself.

"Honestly. I don't want this marriage. I mean, I don't know him. At all. And now, I must accept the fact that I have to spend the rest of my life with him?" Shang Xiang voice sound bitter and hurt.

"I'm gonna talk to your old man." Gan Ning stood up but Shang Xiang pulled his hand.

"It's useless."

"But maybe-"

Shang Xiang cut his words, "It's a political marriage! None of our words could change it. Besides…rejection means another war. I don't want to see any more blood. I don't want to lose my brother…my father…"

Gan Ning remained calm again and sat beside her, "So…what will you do next?"

Shang Xiang laid her head on her hand. She closed her eyes and felt peaceful when the wind breeze touched her face.

"I think I understand why you like this place so much. Maybe I could use this to become my next hideout…"

Poor girl, he said to himself. I never thought that become a princess is a difficult thing.

"You'll get through these." Gan Ning tried to cheer her.

But there's no reply, instead, Shang Xiang answered the question with a loud snore.

Gan Ning rolled his eyes and correcting his words. Poor Liu Bei.
