Prologue: Who is this baby?

It was a stormy night, and there was crying happening outside of Albus Dumbledore's house. He was hosting a party and everything was happening so fast, that one time they were talking about the up coming school semester and next there was a baby outside his house crying. As he opened the door, there was a baby girl.

"Minerva, come here." Albus called over to one of his friends.

A middle-aged woman walked over and she looked at Albus and than a baby. "It's a baby, but why was she left outside here?" Minerva asked as she looked around to see if she could spot anybody in the night.

"Never mind about who left her. I sense that she is strong and powerful, like Harry Potter." Albus said as she looked at the child.

Ah yes - it was the night that The Dark Lord had vanished after killing off James and Lily Potter, but alas he could not kill the child. Minerva took the baby girl, as a note fell to the ground. Albus picked up the note as they brought the child inside to warm up - who knew how long the baby was outside in the cold.

Albus opened the note and started reading it out loud. "Her name is Elizabeth Hope, I found outside near the trash. I can not take care of her, as I am leaving on a trip. The only reason why I knew her name was because of the hospital bracelet that was found beside her. She needs a loving home, Albus. I know that you must be shocked - but You are the only one I can trust and of course all the professors. Good bye for now." Albus read as he tried to read who signed it. "It's from...Jeffery Kidship."

"He was an excellent student, I got a letter from him saying he was off to America." Severus Snape said as he walked over. "Who will take care of the baby?"

"I will." Minerva said. "She needs a mother more and I don't need one of you calling me up in the middle of the night to come over and deal with a crying baby."

The men just nodded their head. Albus looked at the baby.

"Don't we have to go report this?" Minerva asked.

"We should, but that would just place the baby in foster care, but we should so you could technically be her legal guardian." Albus said as he looked at Elizabeth as she wasn't crying as much. "We can deal with it in the morning."

Minerva carried the baby off to an extra room and made a crib appear and set the baby down and looked at her. She smiled as she never thought she would be a mother, but here she was, with a baby that was dropped off here. She left the baby alone and went back to the party. They talked and Minvera stayed the night at Albus's house since she didn't want to move the baby and deal with trying to settle it down if started to cry on the way home.

The next morning, Elizabeth woke up Minerva and Albus as she was hungry. Minerva made a bottle appear and fed it as she was getting herself and Elizabeth ready to see if she can adopt Elizabeth. The two were ready to go, and so was Albus. He looked at her and smiled.

"You know, you are doing a great thing here, Minvera."

"You really think so?"

"Of course. You look like a mother already."

"Let's just get going."

The two wizards were walking from the house - This was going to be a long day for the three of them. Maybe at the time no one would offer the baby up to Minvera as she was a single - but if she had help from Albus, it would make it better for them both of them. It was a thought that was running through both of their heads at the time. The two of them walked into the Ministry of Magic and headed up towards the adoption and abandoned Wizard Children.

"Hello, we have questions about this child that was left outside my house." Albus said to the woman.

"Ah, Albus Dumbledore and Minerva McGonagall, you found a baby?" The woman asked as she looked at them and then baby in Minerva's arms. "How did she end up at your doorstop?"

"Someone dropped her off, they left this note." Albus answered her as he handed over the note.

Her name is Elizabeth Hope, I found outside near the trash. I can not take care of her, as I am leaving on a trip. "Ah, have you brought her to the hospital to see if anyone gave birth to baby recently?" The woman asked.

"No, we wanted to adopt her if the parents left her outside, there is no way of knowing. She deserves a good home." Minerva said as she looked at Elizabeth.

"That is true, she was abandoned, and you were lucky that this Jeffery guy found her, and it seems he wanted you two to raise her." The woman said as she looked at Elizabeth. "I will grant your request to adopt her. Since we don't have any pending request before yours. I'll make sure that it's the same day deal. Just give me one second - but one question, what will the child's last name be?"

Albus and Minerva looked at each other and then looked at Elizabeth - they haven't figured out what the last name would be.

"Elizabeth Hope Dumbledore or Elizabeth Hope McGonagall..." Albus said trying to see which one had a better ring to it.

"Albus, your last name would be a better fit." Minerva said as she looked at the baby and then at Albus.

"It does." The woman said. "So Elizabeth Hope Dumbledore. Welcome into a loving family."
