A Heart Full of Love
"A heart full of love,
No fear, no regret"
"A Heart Full of Love" Les Miserables
A/N: Neither the song nor the characters belong to me. Special thanks to Marguerite (Guest) for reviewing my first story "On My Own"!
Marguerite was sitting there, her back to the entrance. She looked tired, even from across the garden. Her hat was down and her lovely curls flowed loosely down her back.
Poor little woman. It's been a long time, he reflected as he noiselessly scaled the hedge and ducked behind a fountain, not wishing to be observed too soon.
He watched Marguerite toy with...what was that...ah! Pimpernel blossoms! in her lap. A tear fell softly on them.
"Oh, Percy..." a whisper floated down to him, full of longing and sadness. "Where are you?"
That was enough. He stepped out from behind the fountain, and walked quietly over to her.
"My dear! Is it really necessary to water those lovely blossoms with tears?" he remarked in his trademark drawl.
"Percy!" Marguerite sprang up and flung herself into his arms, the flowers flying in all directions. "I was so worried for you—not even Tony knew where you and Andrew had gone this time!" She clung to him with the grip of a drowning man.
He clasped her close for a minute, then tipped her face up to his, smiling his real smile, the one he kept especially for her.
"My Margot," he said softly. "We are all safe again."
She buried her face in his shoulder, sniffling. "Why do you have to go away so often?" she murmured.
His arms tensed. "Margot..." Pictures of Paris flashed in front of him, children screaming, men behaving like beasts. The thrill of the chase, the people they had rescued this time—
"Don't answer that. Just...hold me close," she begged, turning a tear-stained face upwards. "And kiss me."
He crushed her to him, their lips meeting.
And no more words were needed.
A/N: What did you think? Tell me in a review, please!
