Talking to you is like talking to stone.
"There are things in this life that we can't understand and things that we shouldn't understand. HE was one of those things. I never understood him really. His anger, his pain. Maybe I wasn't meant to. Its too late for regrets now. I'm only talking to stone."
"Inuyasha! Wait up!" the young girl yelled at the fiery, cat-like boy.
"Its not my fault your a stupid girl who's slow as heck." He retorted.
She growled.
"Sit boy."
"Things were so happy back then...So peaceful. Not full of heartache or sorrow.." She laid her head on the stone. And Tears began to fall.
"OW! Kagome why'd you have to go and do that!" Inuyasha yelled at the girl.
"Maybe because your a prepubescent moron who needs to grow up and stop picking on young girls."
The two bickered on effortlessly; unknowingly to them that they were being watched.
I..I didn't know it was there. I never even saw it till..." Tears poured down from her eyes, streaming down on the cold stone below her.
Just as Inuyasha and Kagome stopped to rest. A beast of incomprehendable strength lunged from a bush. A snarling hairy beast on all fours, fresh blood still dripping from its teeth.
Kagome's heart was in her throat. Her chest felt as if itwas about to explode with fear.
She smiled. "You were never afraid were you. No.. always the brave one."
A light rain began to fall.
"Kagome! Get out of the way so I can take care of this thing." Inuyasha screamed, getting ready to attack.
"What are you nuts! That thing is going to tear you to pieces!."
"Would you shut up already I'm trying to concentrate!"
"I swear Inuyasha sometimes talking to you is like talking to stone."
"Kagome!"
"Oh no wait I forgot, stone has a higher IQ!"
"Kagome look out!"
She gasped as the fowl creature was about to strike, with her as its target.
It lunged towards her and was about to rip her apart with its teeth.
She shut her eyes tightly and then- nothing.
"Idiot. Stupid fool. Why'd you have to go and do a stupid thing like that."
The rain slowly turned the dirt to mud, and the girl clenched the mud in her hands.
The beasts razor sharp teeth never touched Kagome, nor did his claws. In fact, when she opened her eyes, he fell to the ground-dead.
The tears poured harder.
Kagome looked up and saw Inuyasha standing there, his back turned towards her.
He smiled. "stupid girl." And dropped to the ground.
Kagome's body shook as she saw the blood pouring from his body. One of the beasts' claws had pierced his heart.
Kagome turned him over to face her.. She tried to pull the claw out, but it was just too deep.
So she just held him close, tears welling up in her eyes.
"Why! why did you have to go and do something so stupid!" She cried at him, tears pouring down her face.
He smiled and reached his hand up to touch her face.
"I would have done anything to protect you ya know." He took one final deep breath and began to close his eyes.
"No..No don't close your eyes..please don't go..don't...don't close your eyes."
A light rain began to fall.
"NOOO!" Her scream echoed across the forest and far beyond the hills.
Soaked in blood, holding his lifeless body close, she wept.
She wept for hours.
In the pouring rain.
"Why did you have to leave me. You never listened. I.. I tolled you not to go... I always said that talking to you was like talking to stone."
She smiled, tears still streaming down.
"Ironically, now all that I can talk to..is stone."
Her fingers graced the carved inscription.
"Inuyasha." She whispered.
She bent her face down and kissed the top of the stone.
"Sleep well..my love."
