Drabble –Trust III

Alexander raised a hairy eyebrow Hephaestion's direction and gave him a doubtful look.

"You can trust me, have I ever led you astray before?"

"No," said Alexander not totally convinced at what he was saying.

"Now all you have to do is follow my lead, do everything I do and you will be fine."

Hephaestion stepped carefully on the wet slippery rocks that made a path across the creek. Alexander followed carefully but slipped and fell, landing with a thud on his derriere in waist-deep water.

Hephaestion reached out his hand to help him up and was promptly pulled in to the water headfirst. He came up sputtering and coughing.

"What did you do that for?"

"It was an accident."

"Accident my arse." Said Hephaestion, "You did that on purpose."

"Why would I do that?"

"To get even, because you slipped and fell."

"I wouldn't have fallen if I wouldn't have been on the blasted rocks to begin with."

Both men were now on their feet and heading for dry land. Neither noticed the deeper water ahead and both slipped under the water again.

"The next time you tell me to trust you, Hephaestion, I'm walking the other way."
