It had been over three weeks since she had found out that Luke had cheated on her, three weeks since she left him, three weeks and she still couldn't get this feeling of suffocation off her chest. Sam was right, she needed an axe.
The days were moving slow and she had chosen a Tuesday for this particular act. The barn wasn't too busy, her and Sam were on desk duty, and Luke was out of the building. It was perfect. She had decided to do it around lunch time, and when Sam finally pulled back from his desk and asked her where she wanted to go, she waved him off.
"I have to go see Best about something, can you wait for me?" He gave her a suspicious look before agreeing.
"Sure just make it quick, I want to beat Oliver to the diner." Andy laughed at the ongoing competition between the too men to get to lunch first.
"Trust me this won't take long." Pushing back from her desk she made her way up to Best's office. Knocking softly she popped her head in through the door.
"What do you need McNally?" Him and Noelle had been talking when she came in and both looked at her expectantly.
Nervously cracking her knuckles she stepped into the room, "Umm Sir, how long exactly is ugh suspension for say destroying precinct property. Like a ... desk, for example."
Leaning back, he crossed his arms and gave her a questioning look. "Well, I guess it depends. What kind of damage are we talking about?"
"Complete."
"And the reason would also be taken into consideration."
"One time thing, sir. Definitely a one time thing." Andy smiled nervously before continuing. "I'll even reimburse the precinct for the ummm damage."
"Well with everything being reimbursed I would have to say no suspension, but probably probation. Reason of destroying the property might need some counseling though." Best had an amused glint in his eye.
"Okay, thank you Sir. You have a great day."
Pulling back from the door, Andy could hear the faint whisper of Noelle asking what that was about before she left hearing range. Walking calmly past her desk and to the women's locker room, Andy glanced back at the confused Sam. Disappearing briefly she returned with a decent sized axe.
Sam shot straight out of his chair as he watched Andy walk determinedly towards what use to be Jo's office. It was still unoccupied, still empty. He moved quickly towards the door, in time to see Andy take the first swing at the wooden desk.
A loud thunking sound tore through the precinct as every person on desk turned towards the noise. Another arching swing and the desk cracked down the middle. The third causing it to fall down. Pausing briefly, Andy swiped her bangs back from in front of her eyes and swung at the desk on final time, completely buckling the desk.
Sam watched as Andy sucked in deep breaths, a slight sheen of sweat on her brow, the end of the axe hanging loosely in her palm. Walking swiftly by him, she only paused briefly to take in the gapping eyes of the rest of the police force. Only one pair caught her direct attention, those of her ex-fiance who had just come into work. Walking slowly towards him, the axe swinging lightly in her hand, she stopped with about a foot between them. The axe dropping at his feet with a dull thud. Smiling sweetly up at his wide eyes, she could finally breath.
"I borrowed this from the lake house, I hope you don't mind."
