08 Bully Soon We'll Be Found
Come along it is the break of day
Surely now, you'll have some things to say
It's not the time for telling tales on me
So come along, it wont be long
'Til we return happy
Shut your eyes, there are no lies
In this world we call sleep
Let's desert this day of hurt
Tomorrow we'll be free
Let's not fight I'm tired can't we just sleep tonight
Turn away it's just there's nothing left here to say
Turn around I know we're lost but soon we'll be found
Well it's been rough but we'll be just fine
Work it out yeah we'll survive
You mustn't let a few bad times dictate
So come along, it wont be long
'Til we return happy
Shut your eyes, there are no lies
In this world we call sleep
Let's desert this day of hurt
Tomorrow we'll be free
Let's not fight I'm tired can't we just sleep tonight
Turn away it's just there's nothing left here to say
Turn around I know we're lost but soon we'll be found
"Just shush," Bif whispered, and the world went slow for a second, just a second, while Derby considered it. "Let's just go to sleep, I don't want to fight with you anymore." He hadn't thought it would work, but Derby's face softened a little. The fatigue in his eyes was suddenly overwhelming, just for a moment he shut his eyes and let out the air he had been holding in for ages.
"Okay," he said softly, and although there was release, even submission in that one word, there was also a hint – or maybe Bif just put it there himself – that it wasn't over. "No more fighting, I'm too tired."
"It'll be better tomorrow," Bif said, and laid his head on Derby's shoulder as he lay back. It was so strange, to go from that terrible, roaring anger to sleepy comfort and warm in only a moment. Bif decided to just enjoy it, to savour the moment until tomorrow came and more fighting.
