Roger walked away from the cemetery after the funeral finished, Nears funeral. He had died shortly after the discovery of Kira's identity because of a cancer. Now that the three succesors were dead: Near, Mello and Matt, who would be L? Roger had to apply to the fourth person on the list to succeed L, the one that got the 4th best grades. Near never had any friends and there was always a rivalry relation between him and Mello. They could have been great friends, that was Roger's opinion. Roger got into the car that would take him to Wammy's. He had lots of work to do and also get a new L.
When Roger arrived to Wammy's he got in. He was received by the kids, he ignored them and went to his office. After he called the next L he heard two knoks on his office door. "Come in" Roger said. The doorkeeper of Wammy's house came in "Roger someone left this baby at the door" He said while showing Roger the small thing. Roger looked at him. He was clearly a boy with white hair and blonde ends and his eyes had a grayish centre and a blue surrounding. Roger stared at the baby for a minute before the doorkeeper said another thing "He is clearly Near and Mello's son, it has been also confirmed by comparing Near and Mello's AND with the baby's AND. There were also these notebooks and this letter. Roger got hold of the notebooks and of the letter. He started reading the letter "Dear Roger. If you are reading this we are probably dead. Yes, we have had a baby and as you have probably thought of it is of we, the two successors of L. If you read the notebooks, or should we say diaries?, you will discover that we didn't hate each other. In fact we loved each other. The only person that knew this was Matt. Please take care of our son. Signed: Near and Mello" "Feed the baby, he is staying" Roger said as he opened Near's diary" "How will you name him?" He asked "I don't know. I'll do a contest in Wammys to decide a name" Roger said as the doorkeeper went out of the room. "I certainly didn't expect this" Roger thought.
