#10 Death Note
Somewhere a Clock is Ticking – Snow Patrol
I've got this feeling that there's something that I missed
(I could do most anything to you...)
Don't you breathe
Something happened, that I never understood
You can't leave
Every second, dripping off my fingertips
Wage your war
Another soldier, says he's not afraid to die
Well I am scared
In slow motion, the blast is beautiful
Doors slam shut
A clock is ticking, but it's hidden far away
Safe and sound
Mello was burning. His skin was shocking, bubbled and scorched, and his eyes were filled with tears of pain that he kept choking back. Matt's vision was suddenly very small, his mind focusing in on one thing: Mello's pain, Mello's suffering, Mello's need.
He took hold of him, diving underneath his arm to hold him up, and guided him to a seat. Matt watched himself from afar, fumbling pain killers into Mello's fingers, pressing bandages to his wounds, shaking fingers wrapping up Mello's hands in his own, pressing his cheek to the side of Mello's face that wasn't ruined. He felt awfully, agonisingly helpless, and Mello kept on hissing and whimpering through his teeth.
It was worse that he kept trying to hold it back, and his eyes were wide and unfocused as though the flames and explosions were replaying there. Matt shook him gently, trying to get his attention, trying to bring him back. He murmured his name, softly, and then louder. Mello's eyes turned to him, slowly, and then he hissed through smoke blackened teeth and heat cracked tongue:
"This isn't over."
