"Where are we?" asked Amy.

"Earth, present day. That house is yours." the Doctor explained shortly.

He passed Rory two keys.

"What's this key for?" said Rory.

"The car in front of it."

Rory ran up to the shiny red Jaguar and gawped for a few minutes.

"How did you know this was my favourite car!" he gasped.

"Because you showed me a picture and said: this is my favourite car!" the Doctor replied briefly mimicking Rory's voice.

Still in awe Rory opened the front gate of his new house and walked up to the door. He entered their new home. Amy turned to the Doctor.

"What's all this for?" she asked. "Not that I'm complaining."

"I have to go." he responded.

"What? Why?"

"Because you're still breathing. If anything ever happened to you or Rory…I wouldn't be able to live with myself knowing I've done it again."

He wiped his eyes. The Doctor didn't want to leave but he knew he had to. It was selfish of him to stay. As much as Amy hated it she understood.

"Doctor me and Rory will be fine."

"Only if you live here."

"I'm going to really miss you. Blue box man." said Amy, she too was tearing up. "Come here."

The Doctor was wrapped in a warm huge. He buried his head on Amy's shoulder. He didn't want to let go but eventually he did.

"Look after Rory."

"Look after you." Amy reminded.

The Doctor stood in the TARDIS doorway smiling fondly. Rory came out of the house and joined Amy. The Doctor waved goodbye and closed the door.

"What's he doing?" mused Rory.

"Saying goodbye."

As they watched the TARDIS faded away.

The Doctor stood by the console. It was just him now. Alone. The tears he'd been holding in for so long now started to flood his face. As he stood and cried the TARDIS hummed to him sympathetically. She hated seeing him like this again. Companions always seemed to break his heart, this time there was one each to break both of them.
