Closure

Disclaimer: I do not own VICTORiOUS

It was a Friday night. Jade sat in her room torturing paper into little strips trying NOT to stare at her phone. It had been a month since they broke up. Things had been exchanged between the two through friends a few days after. Besides the awkward pleasantries and occasional acting assignments they didn't speak. Jade thought that by now they would have at least gotten back together or had a discussion as to why they broke up and then gotten back together but I guess pride was holding both of them back. Jade stopped cutting the paper and picked up her phone. She wanted, no needed to talk to him. They had left so many things unsaid and she needed answers to her heart's questions. She had deleted his number a few weeks ago but still knew it by heart and called him up. 'Hello,' he answered.

'Hey, Ba-Beck.' Dammit I almost called him babe. Maybe I shouldn't have called.

'Jade.'

So the awkwardness isn't just extended to face to face interaction. Good to know. 'I was just calling to see how you are.'

'I'm doing good.'

Wow. Just like that? No emotion. No 'How are you doing?'. 'That's good. I'm glad to hear it. Listen, I was just calling because things have been, well awkward to say the least. We dated for almost four years.' We've broken up six times and have gotten back together. What's different now?

'I know. I guess we're so used to the fighting it's hard to adjust without it.'

Did he just say that? 'Yea. So what's new?'

'Nothing. Same old same old.'

The silence seemed to stretch. Jade gathered her strength and decided to start in with the hard questions. 'So why haven't you called?' How could you just break my heart?

'You said if I didn't come outside we were done,' he said.

'We've been done plenty of times before,'she interjected. What's changed?

'I didn't and don't want to fight anymore. Maybe we can try and be friends.'

Friends. Is he serious? Friends. After everything we've been through. I gave you everything. You told me you'd always be there for me yet you were so quick to just throw it all away. I guess I was blinded by love. Love and promises. Now there's no love and the promises have been broken. 'Yea, we can try. Well I don't want to keep you so, I'll see you around.'

'Ok. Bye.'

'Bye.' He hadn't even waited to hear her say bye. Jade hung up the phone. She had wanted to say so much but his tone and short answers said plenty. He barely acknowledged her. It seemed to her like if she didn't call he was intent on letting their friendship as well as what they had just go by the wayside. That's when it truly hit her that it was over and they'd never be anything. Sure they may try to act friendly and be friends but friendship is a two way street. If it wasn't reciprocated what was the use in trying. I guess that's closure. She picked up her scissors and began torturing more paper. She'd be just fine. It was his loss.

End.

A/N: This came about from a conversation with a friend. It made me think of Jade so I wrote this. Hope you enjoy.
