Yay, another oneshot! =D

DISCLAIMER: I DON'T OWN VOCALOID. That is all.

My hand rises to the blond spikes on my head, then slowly to the little ponytail in the back. My blue eyes glance once more at my tuxedo. They then look over to you on the dance floor. I watch you, with the same colored hair, dance gracefully with the teal-haired gentleman. Your dress swishes with each turn and dip. Your movements are smooth. Tonight, all eyes are on the envious couple. I, who cannot even walk to you for a greeting, must stay on the sidelines. I am no match for him, that man who must be dearest to you. I can't do anything but wish for your happiness. Even if it doesn't seem much, I always be here for you. I'll be the constant in your life, the one thing that will never change.

The crowd claps, and I join in. You curtsy to him, he bows to you, then you both repeat this to the crowd. The room now fills with rumors in the air, that you both must be soul mates. I feel my heart drop at this. They just met today...how could rumors begin so soon? I question in my head. ...Why?

"Len!" your sweet voice calls out to me. I smile to her and bow when she arrives. When I rise back up, I almost frown at the newcomer behind you.

"Len, this is Mikuo, my dance partner," you say. Mikuo bows to me, and I to him. "Mikuo, meet Len. He is my childhood friend."

"Ah, is that so?" Mikuo asks with surprise. "You both look so similar! It seemed as if you were twins. I'm sorry for my misunderstanding."

I give a genuine laugh. She laughs as well. When we were younger, she and I, we would pretend to be twin and dress alike.

"It's no trouble at all, Mikuo," I assure him, a little reluctantly. "Everybody has said the same thing, and it's quite a surprise for them too."

He relaxes at this. I can't help but feel displeased at him. He seemed to be a good person, and most likely a good friend as well. A perfect candidate for her.

"Len, aren't you going to dance with the other ladies?" she asks me.

"Ah...I'm all right, Rin," I slowly answer. "My stomach is sick from...eating too much. The food is delicious."

"I understand." Rin nods at this, giving me the look. She knows I'm lying, that something is troubling. No doubt that she will try to confront me about it. "Why don't we all take a break from dancing?"

"An excellent idea, Rin," Mikuo says. "To be honest, I'm famished. I'll see you in a little while."

"All right, Mikuo."

"Be seeing you, Mikuo."

He waves and strolls to the table of food. Rin turns to me, and I quickly know that she'll be questioning me.

"Len, are you really all right? You don't seem yourself."

"I assure you, it's the food getting to me."

"Honest?"

"Honest."

"Hmm...I suppose."

As you begin to recount our childhood memories, I can't help but notice again how lovely you look. With your simple blue dress and shoes, it becomes you. My mind turns to Mikuo, in his exquisite suit, and I know that between the two of us, I could never win. Even if I told you the real reason, you'll surely reject me in front of the other gentlemen and ladies. Reject not only the friendship we have, but my feelings as well. So, I must be content with how things are. Even if you are to be married to another man, I will try to accept this and remain your friend.
