The school bell rang, indicating the school day was over. Time was running out. Blythe still didn't find Russell yet, and she needed to go home soon.

Abandoning his half-eaten apple, Russell ran out of the principal's office in desperation to find his human friend to take him home.

Not to mention get as far away as possible from that janitor!

The little hedgehog skid around a corner, nearly falling on his face due to the slippery wax, and ran down the hall, quickly scanning each connecting hall. He screeched to a stop when he caught glimpse of Blythe down the hallway connected to the door that lead to the outside world.

"I've looked all over the place, but I couldn't find Russell…" Blythe muttered nervously as she paced back and forth. She suddenly stopped and gasped. "Wait… What if… What if he isn't even IN the school anymore?! What if he fled out of school grounds altogether?!"

The teenager swiped up her backpack - or was it accidentally Brittany Biskit's? - and bolted towards the door.

Desperation turning into fear, Russell ran down the hall in effort to catch his friend before she left the building.

"Blythe, wait!" he called out. "I'm right here!"

Out of the blue, a large net was swung down, causing the hedgehog to trip and fly into the net. He hit the ground hard and looked up when he heard a quill-trembling chuckle.

It was the janitor!

"I finally gotcha, prickly rat!" he rasped in victory. "Don't worry, I have a niiice place for you to live in from now on…" He lifted the net up and glared at Russell smugly for a second before whipping the net's handle over his back and walking down the hall in the opposite direction of the door.

"No! Wait! You have the wrong guy!" Russell cried, trying to struggle his way out of the net's unbreakable grip. "Please, you have the wrong guy! I'm not even a rat; I'm a hedgehog! BLYTHE! HELP!"

To his dismay, Blythe didn't even hear his cry. She finally ran up to the door and swung it open, then ran out and the door closed behind her, causing her to be completely out of earshot to his cries and pleas.

"NOOOOO! BLYTHE, PLEASE COME BACK!" Russell wailed as his struggling grew more fierce. The semi-warm liquid of tears began to run down his cheeks. "BLYYYYYTHE!"
