Full Summary: Bella Swan is a clumsy girl who can dance like nobody's business. Edward Cullen is a famous figure skater, who needs a new twist to his dancing, after his partner went solo. He's looking for a partner. They meet, and find they work perfectly together. While teaching Bella how to skate, and teaching Edward to dance, maybe this love-hate relationship will turn into something more.

Chapter 1

Edward landed his routine, yet again, and stared off into the distance, wishing for the impossible…yet again. He had not so far, let go of the notion that Nina, his double's partner, was coming back. Knowing didn't seem to be enough. He felt that his partner would walk through the plastic and wood doors that lead to the rink any second now.

So far, there was no luck on that front.

On the other hand, his routine had been perfected. It had been perfected to a point where even he could tell that it was boring and plain. He had never done single's before, and without Nina—a partner, he had nothing new to bring to the judges. It was just another boring routine, practiced in a daze, that the judges saw every year. Edward had always been known for refreshing even the toughest of judges.

His coach blew her…loud and annoying whistle, and the music started again.

He didn't move for a minute, and the music stopped.

"EDWAARD ANTHUNY COLLEN! Wat ah you trying to do?" Tanya yelled out to me.

Tanya was a retired single's skater (having retired not for her age, but for an injury) and, unfortunately, the most sought out coach. She didn't hesitate to remind him this…again.

"You are spendeeng too mush of your time remineesceeng. Donth forget who I am!" her r's rolled, and her voice was think with both anger and natural accent.

Edward rolled his eyes, and muttered under his breath, "Yes masterrrr."

To her, louder, he yelled out, "Sorry! Let's run through it one more time, please?"

She smiled, satisfied, and her whistle echoed through the room.

The music started, and Edward started again, doing a set of complicated jumps and spins…alone.

I, Bella Swan was gasping for air, and sliding down against the wall facing the mirrors. My very best friend, Alice Brandon, threw me a water bottle and an encouraging grin. Next to her sat Jasper Hale, who was sending a sympathetic smile my way. Jasper and Alice had been dating for a few years now, and I had it on good authority that pretty soon he was going to ask her to marry him. They had been dating for five years now, and they were absolutely meant for each other. Everyone, especially them, was aware of this fact.

Then, the three of us turned back to my instructor, Jacob Black. He was rubbing his forehead. Everyone knew that he would never yell at me, because, even though he wouldn't admit it, he had…feelings…for me (it was a known fact that I didn't return them). Instead, he sighed.

"Bella, sweetie, you have to do it again. Every time there is even one mistake, you have to do it again. If it's flawless, you can take a break, but you know that if the last one wasn't perfect, you have to do it again. You can't let the mistake set in your brain." He sounded like he was talking to a two year old. This was his way of showing anger.

I took a deep breath, dragged my body up the wall with my eyes closed. When I opened them, they were full of determination. Jacob saw the familiar spark; it was the spark that told him that I would strive to be the best.

Alice and Jasper stared at me in wonder. I turned and gave them a confident smile, and turned to Jacob to press play. His finger was an inch above the button when someone knocked on the door. It was the unique knock of the one, and only, Rosalie Hale. The people in the studio guessed that her boyfriend, and Alice's brother, was trailing behind her.

We were right, and when the door opened to reveal Emmet Brandon along with Rosalie, Jacob threw his hands up in the air, and stormed out of the studio.

Emmet clapped his hands happily. He really didn't like Jacob.

I glared at everybody, and pressed the play button, knowing that Jacob would be back in a second once he heard the music.

I did the routine perfectly, and everyone behind me clapped, even the instructor from hell. I smiled proudly, and retrieved my water bottle again.

We sat in a circle on the studio floor after I had showered, and Alice started talking about our plans that night. "We have to go out for dinner tonight! I've heard of this new place that opened right by Bella's house!"

Jasper sighed. "I can't tonight Alice. I was trying to tell you earlier. I ran into Edward Cullen today! He was one of my best friends in school."

Rosalie gasped, "The skater?" She had been a huge fan of him, even before he had won his first US Open with Nina no-one-knows-her-last-name.

"Yes, the skater. He and I were great friends in middle school and halfway through high school. When I moved to Phoenix, he moved also—to Alaska. Somewhere along the line, we lost contact. He just moved here. We made plans to go out tonight, and I really don't want to cancel them." Jasper was practically whining.

Alice looked thoughtful for a minute, and then said, with a 'duh' expression on her beautiful face, "He should come for dinner with us! That will give him a chance to not only rekindle old friendships, but also create new ones."

Rosalie and Emmet enthusiastically agreed, and I just sat there, thinking of what little I had seen of the very famous Edward Cullen. What I had seen was a cocky, full of it, smug and arrogant celebrity. I didn't understand how Jasper could have such a friend, so I agreed reluctantly.

Edward Cullen pulled off his skates, and pulled on sandals. After a good long shower, he went to check his phone. There was a call from Nina's sister, his parents, and Jasper Hale.

Edward had been so glad to run into Jasper, but their plans had been sudden. He wouldn't be surprised if Jasper was calling to reschedule or just cancel all together.

A drop of water fell from his head onto the phone, and while wiping it off, he noticed Jasper had left a message. He took his small towel from around his neck and towel dried his hair, and then put the phone to his ear.

"Hello Edward, this is Jasper Hale. I was so pleased to see you earlier today, and I know that you were expecting just the two of us to go and catch up, but my girlfriend and some of our friends would love to meet you as well. I didn't know if you would be alright with us changing the plans, so don't worry, because nothing is finalized. Whatever you decide, please call me when you get the chance. See you later."

Edward sighed. It would be nice meeting new people, but it was always strange when people only wanted to meet the skater, and not really the person.

Deciding to give people a chance, he called Jasper and confirmed the plans to go out as a group.

While he got dressed, he wondered how the evening would play out. Then, while driving towards the restaurant, he wondered if the move to Phoenix would actually help his life, which at some point, had spiraled out of control.

I watched Rosalie check the entrance again anxiously, to see if Edward had entered. Then when I turned to look at the rest of the group, this is what I saw: Jasper looked excited, Emmet looked jealous and Alice was looking both smug and hopeful. I wondered briefly what she was up to, and then decided I would find out soon enough, so there was no point worrying.

That's when I saw him approach us. We all stood. He watched us with cautious eyes, but his face was friendly and trusting. I wondered if it was a charade, or if he was naturally like this.

We all introduced ourselves, and Jasper and Edward did that awkward one armed hug that guys do.

Edward took a seat between Jasper and I.

"This is a nice restaurant. Do you come here often?" he turned to ask me.

"Oh no, this is actually my first time here. Alice heard about it, and insisted that we come here tonight," I replied.

The conversation started including the whole group one by one, and soon we were the loudest people in the large room. We were all laughing at something Emmet had said, when I happened to look at my watch.

I gasped in mid-laugh. "Oh gosh, it's late! I have to get to sleep!" I turned at looked at Alice apologetically, "You know, with training everyday, it gets hard to go out!"

Edward glanced at me. "What are you training for?" he asked. It was a sincere question, and in that moment, I decided he wasn't at all bad, and that I judged him way too quickly.

"Oh, I dance."

"What types?" he continued.

"I mostly practice jazz, but I also dance ballet, and several types of couple's dances," I said back.

"Do you tango?" he asked, his eyes narrowing, and a playful, sly smile forming on his lips.

I nodded, seeing where he was heading.

"Would you like to wow these people with me?" he whispered to me, though no one was listening.

I glace around the group, and then back at him. I licked my lips and stood. My smile matched his.

"I haven't danced outside of the studio for years! When did you learn to tango?" I said.

"I had to learn when I started getting serious about skating. I did a routine involving the tango. It's been years since I've done anything this…different, "He said.

I grinned, and we swept past the dancing couples to add a song to the list. It was on shuffle, because no one had requested anything. Our request came up right after the original song finished.

I laughed when I saw everyone staring at us.

He spun me fast a few times, and then we started the basics.

Right foot, left foot, outside partner etc.

Soon, we graduated to more complicated motions, and ended with a sharp Gancho.

I slid my leg down, but stayed bent. And, after the momentary pause, when the final beat rung out, I slid through his legs smoothly, and stood up. The applause was astounding! We bowed to the audience, both out of breath and laughing.

Slowly, the applause died down, and we walked outside, waving to our amazed friends.

Right before we left to go separate ways, he asked me the most horrific, amazing, startling question I've ever been asked. Maybe it was because we were slightly drunk….

"Will you be my doubles partner?"

To everyone who might recognize this story: This was on my other account, Crowned Bambi, but I have gone back to this account, and I give myself full permission to do this. Haha.

On a happier... or not...note, who else thought Breaking Dawn was a joke? I honestly expected Stephenie Meyer to have a colorful balloon page that said, "JUST KIDDING-NOW ON WITH THE STORY!" Sadly, that didn't happen. I won't give anything away, incase someone hasn't read it, because I personally hate it when other fanfic authors do that to me. Oh yeah-and to those haven't read it yet-get to that!

Last thing, I'm looking for a beta, so if you're interested, please PM me, or include it in your review. Thanks so much!
