Chapter One
Chaos Erupts
It was supposed to be a normal day for Jim and Sophia, but then again what is a normal day for two law officials?
"So where do you want to get something to eat?" Sophia asked as she maneuvered the Dodge Charger through the traffic. "Jim," Sophia said as they came to a stop at a light. "Do you think we arrested the right guy?"
"How about Harold's diner, off Flamingo, you know they have good food." Jim responded to Sophia. He listened to her ask her question and said, "I'm positive we got the right guy. His alibi didn't add up and he kept changing where he was at the time of the murder." Jim looked at Sophia and said, "Your not going against your instants are you, the same instants that got you to where you, are now?"
Sophia slowly pulled the Charger into the traffic. She knew where Harold's diner was. "I know that but its, just what if we made a mistake." She sighed and said, "I guess I just need to relax."
"What you need is some time off." Jim responded to her. "Besides the time off could be good for you; and when you return you won't be all stressed out." Jim responded as he saw two black and white's going the opposite direction as them. He didn't say anything; just in case Sophia saw the two cars.
Sophia hit the lights and siren and pulled a u- turn. She radioed to dispatch telling them at she and Captain Brass were joining the pursuit. She could feel her heat racing, knowing that this is the type of thing she needed right then-- a good old fashioned chase. She could see the black and whites turn off on to Industrial. She kept her speed up as she kept an eye on the black and whites.
The next thing Detective Curtis knew, she stopped the vehicle. She upholstered her gun from her hip and began to return shots at the suspects. It didn't take Sophia long to run out of the 20 rounds she had left. Her other 10 rounds were at her desk-- great place for them-- a great way for her not to use them. As she was checking to see if she had her extra round box with her, the suspects took off.
The female detective looked at the suspect in font of her and ran after him. She wasn't going to stop until he was either dead or in handcuffs. She didn't know why she was so angry but she was.
While Sophia ran after one of the shooters, Jim stayed back with Sergeant Reynolds', who was applying pressure to his rookie officer, Officer Bell, the Sergeant would not leave him alone. Jim knew that he could have left at any time but he decided to stay.
Within twenty-five maybe thirty minutes all of the suspects the officers and Sophia could catch were in custody. One however was on the run. That was the least of the six officers' minds, right now they were thinking about what they were going to tell Internal Affairs as they were just pulling up.
