I wish I owned Black Cat, but I do not. This takes place in an AU, one where Saya is alive, well, and married to Train. Have fun reading! *^_^*
Saya crept into the kitchen. She was looking around for Train; he said he was going to be back soon. He was on a Sweeper mission with Sven and Eve, last she heard, but that had been a few days ago. The target hadn't been big or too dangerous, but Saya couldn't go because of…ahem…the frail future life she was carrying.
She thought she heard a noise down here, so she came to investigate, but she could still wish it were Train. "Train?" Saya called softly. "Are you home?"
All of a sudden, she felt a presence behind her, and—a second after she felt it—a gigantic hug enveloped her small frame, yet the hug was careful. "Yep." Train whispered in her ear.
Saya turned around and beamed at Train. Train smiled back and then looked at her protruding belly. "It's still hard to think I'm gonna be a dad!"
Saya looked down at her tummy and nodded. "Yeah, I know, but" she looked at Train. "I know that she's gonna love you!" Train's eyes widened and a grin broke out.
"It's a girl?" Train felt dumb for asking it, but he didn't care at the moment. Especially when Saya nodded.
"I had to check when the baby is so close to delivery," Saya beamed with pride as she continued. "We have to think of a cute name for her."
Train had a thinking fit. Millions of beautiful names popped into his head, but none of them seemed right. Margot? Shirley? Mei? Emi? Saya? …
Saya could see the fit of thinking going on in her husband's head and she laughed. Train looked at Saya as she led him to the kitchen table so they could talk. As they sat down, Train started thinking again, but Saya saved him from this one.
"What about Felicity?" Saya took a stab in the dark, figuratively speaking.
"It sounds like we'd be trying to raise a saint," Train said. "How about Alyssa?"
"We're not American…" Saya mused. "How about something different from the norm?"
The soon-to-be parents thought and racked their brains for a good name for their child. Some name that would make her stand out, but not look ridiculous. It was daybreak before they came up with the perfect name.
And in three days, Nekko was born.
