"Hey, you, get up."
She chose to ignore the gruff command completely and turned over, attempting to find solace in her dreams once more. She was rudely interrupted as someone threw a bucket of water over her, drenching her completely.
"Just because you're the princess doesn't mean that you get more sleep. Up!" Angrily, Azula sat up, facing the burly woman whose duty it was to make sure she didn't escape from the asylum. She was tempted to throw lightning at her, but as wet as she currently was, she was liable to fry herself. Besides, the woman was trained in redirecting lightning. Sputtering slightly, she stood up.
"Are you going to just stand there all day? Hurry up and change." By now, Azula knew better than to hope for privacy while changing; they were too afraid that she had a dagger hidden somewhere among her clothes. As if they hadn't inspected her all over when she'd first arrived. She chose to take it as a compliment she was considered so dangerous. Sullenly, she pulled on a shapeless red shift, the only piece of clothing she was allowed to keep. She was then marched to breakfast by several guards, all trained in redirecting lightning, for a small bowl of porridge. Admittedly, she was luckier than many of the other asylum inmates, as Zuko paid the institution to "keep Azula comfortable." Not that it meant much more than making sure what she ate wasn't entirely tasteless and that where she slept was free from bedbugs. Life was a dull monotonous blur ever since she'd been placed here and had come to learn that it was a waste of energy to escape.
She had two choices; either she could spend her days here weaving and sewing, activities she looked at with disdain, or she could walk around the grounds with six guards following her at all times. She generally chose to do the latter. Today was no different. As she walked, she occasionally let a few flames jump from her fingers. The guards regarded the blue sparks nervously, and she let the tiniest hint of a satisfied smile curve her lips. Perhaps it would be better for her chances of escape to help them forget just how dangerous she was, but she needed some entertainment. She was only human, after all.
