Author's Note: This is the first in the one No Angel series. Once again work and school have gotten in the way of the fun stuff. The series is mostly written out I just need to type everything up and then do some editing but I thought I'd get this one out since it is done. And yes it is very short, I know. Not all of them will be quite this short. Also it you want to know more about the No Angel series you can visit my profile.

Disclaimer: Alas, the characters are not mine and I am not making any money from this. I don't really have any money anyway so suing would do little good.

Here With Me

The panic hits him like a freight train. When he opens his eyes and looks around, he cannot see her. He tries to push the panic away. He knows it is irrational. They are safe now. There is nothing trying to eat them. He is indoors in a soft bed and he can hear the sounds of traffic floating through the open patio door. The open door. He feels the tight feeling in his chest loosen when he sees her standing in the morning sun watching the city below as it slowly begins to wake.

When she tells him she is happy to be there with him, he feels the tightness melt away altogether. His breath comes easier. He has been worried, despite everything. He still has his doubts. He realizes now that Abby had resigned herself to living in the past right up until they saw the anomaly open. He can't help but wonder if she had resigned herself to him as well. He is terrified now that they are back and there is whole world of other choices, other men, she'll decide that she doesn't need to settle anymore. He wonders if he would be able to take it if she left him. He doubts he could. He knows it is pathetic, but it's true. He is stronger now than he used to be, he knows that. He had to grow stronger in order to survive. Still, he privately thinks that it was only Abby that it made him stronger. She is the one who taught him to fight, the one who kept him from falling apart. He thinks that if she wants to leave him now, all the fight would drain out of him. Abby shifts slightly in his arms dropping a kiss on his collarbone and with that small gesture Connor feels his fears melt away. It is impossible for him to think about such fears when she was resting in his arms like this. Connor drops his own kiss on top of her head turns and his face to the sunrise.
