Disclaimer: I am not from Edinburough (apologies if that's spelled incorrectly), I am not ...whatever age Jo is, my name is not Jo Rowling, and I am not a very successful author. Therefore these characters and the place are not mine. I am merely playing in Jo's sandbox (as another fanfic author said a while back, I wish I had her name so I could give her credit for the quote.)
Author's Note: My Microsoft Word locked itself, my free trial of version 2007 ran out. Until I get version 2007, I am using WordPad so, there is no spellcheck or grammar check. So I apologize, I went back over and checked this but sometimes there are things I overlook.
Now on with the story:
Sirius sat alone below a tree on Hogwarts grounds. He was all alone by the looks of it, he liked the grounds at night, it gave him time to think about anything he wanted or nothing at all.
"I really wish you wouldn't do that." A voice behind him said.
"Do what, Moony?" Sirius asked without moving.
"Smoke." Sirius took the cigarette out of his mouth and blew a puff of smoke into the cool air; at the same time he put his head against the tree and turned to look at Remus as if to dare him to say anything. Remus sat down beside him as the cigarette came back to meet Sirius' lips.
It was silent, Sirius did not mind that Remus had intruded on his time alone there; he understood at least. Their hands were very close, and Sirius covered Remus' with his. This was the way it went some days when Remus joined Sirius; he came down and they sat in silence, sometimes touching, sometimes not but nothing further.
Sirius took the cigarette up off his lips again and blew out another breath of smoke. The hand holding the cigarette down near the grass and then it was flat against the grass, held down by another, the cigarette thrown into the lake, only centimeters from where they were.
And then Remus was ontop of Sirius before anything could be done, their lips touching at an incredible force as if built-up lust was being let free at that moment; which it probably was. Sirius was pulled to his side by hands grasping his robes just below his shoulders and there was a short pause as they came up for breath. Hands roamed where they had wanted to for God knew how long. And then, as quick as they had begun, they stopped. Remus stood up regulating his breath and leaned against the tree.
"So, I'll see you in the common room? We should get started on our transfiguration essay."
Sirius stared at the fading figure of the fellow Marauder who had just shown a greatly unexpected change in character. Sirius picked another cigarette from the packet and placed it between his lips. As he brought the lighter up, he paused. Maybe he would go see Remus up in the common room after all. He dropped the cigarette, and maybe he would lay off the cigarettes as much, for Remus.
