Note: I had to give myself a twist on that last scene featuring Grissom in a suit and his conversation with Catherine.

Grissom tightened his tie, his mind wandering off in anticipation of his upcoming evening with Sara. It wasn't often that he wore a suit and tie and it would be a nice surprise to see her reaction when she stepped into the office on her way back from the lab.  Would she be impressed? Catherine certainly had been, but then she was teasing him in an off hand way. She knew that he did not know that she was returning today, and she had to have been wondering why he had been fixing his tie when she walked into the room. A perfectionist he may be, and order was his motto, but still he kept the suit on in the anticipation of his evening with Sara. While he bantered with Catherine, he kept thinking Sara would walk in during their conversation, but thankfully she was running late. Catherine suspected enough concerning his feelings for Sara, and he wanted no scenes that would further her suspicions and advance the teasing.

He was shaking his head again to clear the cobwebs when the object of his thoughts made an appearance in his doorway. Clearing his throat, he stood up and causally walked around his desk, giving her a warm smile. He watched as her eyes widened, the brown depths sparkling with some indecipherable emotion. Her lips turned up at the corners until they reached the beautiful smile she reserved just for him, and her hands could not resist reaching forward to adjust the tie that he felt certain was not crooked. Stepping back, she surveyed him from head to foot, and then tilted her head slightly.

"You got plans?" She asked him, the smile playing around her lips.

Grissom nodded with a slow smile tilting the corners of his eyes. "I know this little place that boasts the best calamari in Las Vegas."

Sara swept her hands over her outfit before lifting her eyes to lock with his in amusement. It was not often that she and Grissom went out to dinner, usually preferring meals in one or the others homes, or even picnics at the body farm. He watched the emotions that played across her beautiful face and made a production of looking at his watch. "I could pick you up in an hour if you like, or, we can leave now."

Sara appreciated what he was telling her; that what she wore was not important to him and that he would be proud of being with her regardless of her clothes. But, then, it was not often she would get to go out on the town with a Gil Grissom in a suit.

"You can pick me up in two hours." She said to his further amusement. That would give her time to soak in a tub and then dress in a leisurely fashion. Sharing another private smile, they parted ways and Grissom loosened his tie. It was going to be one fine evening.
