Just Walk Away
He knows he should just leave with the way his heart pounds and his hands moisten with the nervous sweat that he'd long since forgotten. He feels like he is fifteen again – which was the last time he felt this lost when it came to a woman, at that time his fingers had shook and his lips had quivered as his first love had walked away. His skin feels too itchy when he is around her and he chalks it up to the expensive suit that dons his frame, though he knows that the silks have nothing to do with it.
He doesn't want to admit that he is curious about her. He longs to find out the things that she keeps hidden, he longs to be there for her in the same way she had been there for him. He wonders where they would be now if he hadn't pushed her away in those moments; would she be in his arms? Or would she still be within his sights, but out of his grasp?
His fingers curl and he knows he should just walk away as his feels the jealousy infurl within his belly. His thoughts take a turn for the worse as he hears the words fly out of her mouth in a tongue he isn't familiar with. It makes everything all to real, she isn't from this Country and he doubts she will stay – he likes to pretend otherwise.
He can't understand the words she is speaking to the unknown caller but that doesn't stop him from imagining. It causes his face to harden and he has to turn away before he ends the call himself, either by slamming his fist into the cradle or tearing the cord from the wall, both options are appealing but he can contain himself for a bit longer.
He knows feelings can not be forgotten; he had tried by surrounding himself with lies and dredging up past memories that had faded long ago. He tries to mention Jeanne more, hoping that hearing her name will come with that ache he now felt for a different woman. It was much stronger, this new ache; it felt like his heart was being ripped in two pieces with heavy clamps and sharp scalpels. He hates this feeling but he cannot drop it no matter how hard he tries.
Everytime she is out of his sight he wants to call her, everytime she is in his sight he wants to hold her; he does niether. He is a nervous wreck and he remembers everything they've been through together. He can't help but feel his loneliness spread as he remembers that time a year ago that could have changed today's outcome. He knows he shouldn't have walked away.
He keeps his head up, but the ache still remains. Her smiles seem to fade, and her posture seems to waver; he can tell she is hiding something, he doesn't push it, he simply waits. Because this time he won't walk away.
Short little something inspired by Legends. I did not know when I opened the Word Document but this was the outcome. :] I really hope you enjoyed it. Please review!
