Author's note: Alright everybody just as I promised here is the first revised chapter of My Life After Twilight. For those of you just clicking on the story I'd like to say welcome I had started this story back in 2011 and I quit because of the atrocious grammar that I had. It has now been 4 and a half years and in that time I've acquired a High School degree and an Associate's Degree. So does my grammar still need improvement? Yes. (Sorry I make the pictures in the books I don't write them Illustration Major over here ) Improvement is evident but I'm going let you all be the judge on how much. You can compare to the next chapters that have already been posted I'm re-editing one at a time before I continue the story so I can keep my train of thought moving as I finish the story. One last thing before I shut up, I can't in good conscious not give a shout out to Lady Zayriah. I recently read a story of hers that she started in 2008 and she just finished in July it's called "Running to You" I personally enjoyed it (Go Check it out!) but 7 years it took her and I thought If she can finish hers why can't I? So my friend, Thank you! Please enjoy.

MY LIFE AFTER TWILIGHT

Meer moments ago Midna shattered the mirror and returned to the twilight. The last connection to his long time traveling companion and, friend was now completely shattered on the ground, reflecting the unforgiving sun. I looked over to see Link fall to his knees picking up one of the pieces turning it over in his fingers. As he looked up to face the sun I could see tears run down his face. I walked over to him and sat next to him in silence. He lied his head on my shoulder and I returned the action trying to show him some comfort in what I'm sure is a difficult time for him. Midna originally had a selfish attitude but proved to be loyal and stopped at nothing to help regain the control of both of our kingdoms. I felt Link's head rise he looked at me and spoke

"I'm sorry your highness, how pathetic I must look crying over a broken mirror."

"Link," I replied "You aren't pathetic, you just lost your traveling companion and friend anyone would be sad, I'm sad. Midna, she helped save us all she is back ruling her kingdom, I'm sure it was just as hard for her to say goodbye to you."

Link stood up with a piece of the mirror clenched in his fist using the other hand to wipe his tears. He turned his head and looked at me.

"We need to get you back to castle town so we can start constructing the castle. It will take time and until then you need a place to stay I have a humble little home in the outskirts of Ordon if you would like to stay there. I understand if you wish to stay with someone of a higher class." He bowed to me as he finished speaking.

I had to hide a smile, his reputation of loyalty and kindness far proceeds him willing to share the tiny space he had. I placed my hand upon his shoulder telling him to rise.

"Please, call me Zelda, there is no reason that you should refer to me as 'your highness' or 'your grace' or 'your majesty' formalities from this moment are no longer allowed. You just saved my kingdom, and my life, you have earned every right to call me by my name. Thank you for your offer, but it won't be necessary if you can assist me once more, we can repair the castle with the use of our Triforce pieces. So your hospitality while very kind is unnecessary. I would however, wish to accompany you until tomorrow at that time we will have a chance to repair my castle."

"It would be me honor to help you" Link replied "If you don't mind I need to get back to Kakariko in order to escort the children back to their families in Ordon. In order to do that we need to get out of this ghastly desert we can take the hogs the boblins used during the war. Please allow me to escort you to your high-Zelda"

"Thank you, I don't mind riding with you at all." I replied

Secretly, I was looking forward to riding back with him I hoped to maybe crack his quiet exterior. He held out his arm to escort me to the hog. The hog wasn't the most attractive thing but it beats walking. He helped me up on to the beast seconds later he hopped up with almost no effort. He was such a gentleman, it didn't hurt that he was handsome and courageous either. Link tapped the sides of the hog and the beast began to run forward. As we were riding through the desert blood thirsty cacti, sprung out at us, but before I could blink he had his sword out and sliced them in two. I noticed it wasn't the master sword and then I remembered it is plunged into Ganondorf's head. I asked him how he got the sword. He replied

"Right when the journey began and was transformed into the wolf Midna requested for me to get her a sword and shield. When she realized that they were too big for her she kept them for when we transformed me back to my human form. I used this sword until I pulled the Master Sword from its pedestal. Midna hung on to it just incase I needed it again. However, now that the Master sword is no longer with me I use this sword again. I was supposed to deliver it to you on the day of the invasion."

He took the sword off his torso sheathe and all of then gave it to me. On the sheathe was the crest of the royal family…my family. I released the blade from the sheathe and there etched on the blade was the crest again. I explained the story as of why we asked for the blade.

"It was to be a gift to the general of the royal guard he was also my personal bodyguard. He was killed the day Zant invaded. He gave his life in order to protect my own."

I felt tears caught in my throat, I quickly composed myself before Link could see I then had an idea.

"Link?" I asked "How would you like to become head of the royal guard?"

He looked at me stunned

"Well" he stuttered "Why would you want a farm boy to be in charge of your safety?"

I leaned back and turn around as much as I could to face him. "Because that farm boy single handedly explored every cave, sink hole, hidden grotto, traversed multiple trap and monster infested temples and defeated Ganondorf so if you believe that someone else is more qualified please do let me know."

"Anyone in the resistance that helped me fight, the man who taught me to fight: Rusl. In all honesty I'd really have to think about it that is a huge responsibility but also a huge honor."

I decided to drop the subject and told him to sleep on it, and give me his answer in the morning. He began told me about all his adventures as he went on I decided to lean against his chest.

"Am I boring you?" he asked

"Not at all" I replied, "Your tales are quite interesting I am just tired of being up straight."

As I laid there I could feel his constant heartbeat. It also didn't hurt that he smelled nice it was a combination of teakwood and pine needles. We finally got out of the desert and back in to the beauty of Hyrule. We both dismounted and the hog ran in a berserk like fashion running head on into the cliff face. As Link pulled out a charm he could see my eyes widen in bewilderment as the hog just knocked himself out.

"That's normal for them to do that. I can't recall how many times I had been thrown off because of the reckless running." He said non-chalant

Link then played a beautiful melody, all of a sudden a beautiful chestnut colored horse with a white mane as pure as snow came bounding toward us. She stopped a couple of inches away from Link and he petted her gently. He then went and grabbed my hand saying I could pet her. He guided my half way and the horse met it halfway.

"Her name is Epona." He said

"A beautiful name for a beautiful horse" I replied.

Like with the hog he then helped me on her back and then help helped himself up. He tapped her sides gently and she began to gallop toward the Kakariko. There were monsters along the way but like the cacti he took care of them in an instant. We rode through Hyrule and we finally arrived at the rusted decaying gates to Kakariko Village.
