Anakin gave Padme a passionate kiss. He loved her deeply. He would leave the order one day to just be with her as a husband not her Jedi protector.
But the war prevented that. How could their side be the victor if their most powerful Jedi left because he had broken the Jedi Code?
He would have to stay to win the war. He would do it. Why couldn't the war just be over? Why did this Darth Sidious have to create such a war that was very brutal?
After the war, he would leave the order and be a husband. He would win this war. He had to.
The galaxy would be a better place if someone, who could shape a peaceful and harmonious society, too over. The galaxy would be far safer from the threat, from war.
Padme raised an eyebrow. "What are you thinking about, love?"
Anakin smiled at her. "Just thinking about the war".
"I wish this war would just be over", Padme told him.
Anakin gave her another kiss.
"I know, love".
Anakin kissed her neck. "How about we take this to bed now, Senator?"
Padme smiled. "Of course, my Jedi Knight."
Anakin used The Force to shut the door before turning to Padme.
Padme cuddled up close to his arm. Anakin caressed her face with the palm of his hand. Padme leaned into his touch. The top of Anakin body was bare, revealing his muscular frame.
Padme petite frame was lying beside him snuggling close to her love. She stroked the rich blonde hair on Anakin's head, lovingly.
To the galaxy, they were just a Jedi protecting a Senator but here, behind the doors of the bedroom, they were husband and wife.
Anakin wished that they didn't have to conceal their marriage from the galaxy but they had to because Anakin was a Jedi Knight.
Being a Jedi meant a lot to Anakin but Padme meant something more.
Padme was the reason he was living, the reason he felt alive every day.
But why would the Jedi think attachment is dangerous?
They were allowed to bond with their masters but never with the people they love. The people they want to be the most.
Anakin closed his eyes and soon sleep found him.
Luke Skywalker had just completed another mission. The twenty- three year old was exhausted.
When he said exhausted, he really meant exhausted.
Luke felt relief flood his when he reached the room he shared with his squad.
He opened the doors and quietly and went into the room. Wedge appeared to muttering as he slept something that sounded like "Don't throw away those bottles of Correlian Ale!"
Luke climbed up to his bed and collapsed on it not bothering to change into his sleepwear first.
Sleep found him instantly.
Anakin found himself in a meadow. The blue sky was very beautiful. The green meadow decorated with all kinds of flowers of nature was just breathtaking.
Anakin caught sight of a young man standing in front of him.
He looked oddly familiar.
He had sun bleached blonde hair and crystal blue eyes. He was short for his age and looked like he had come from some planet that was quite hot.
Anakin studied him again. It was like looking at a mirror.
Who was this man?
Why did he look like he meant something to him?
Luke looked around. Where was he?
It was the most beautiful place he had seen.
The ground had some kind of weird plant that Luke recognized were flowers.
His surrounding were nature.
Having have spent nineteen years on Tatooine, Luke couldn't believe that such beautiful things existed.
This was definitely a dream.
Luke felt his attention rest on a man that stood in the meadow.
He was lean shoulders and was tall. He had blonde hair that was a bit darker than his own. He had a scar near his right eye.
What shocked Luke was that they had the same eyes.
The same shape.
The same color.
Who was this man? Why did he look so... familiar.
Why did Luke feel like he should know this man?
Anakin felt like he should speak first. He felt the need for answers grow stronger as each second passed.
"Who are you?"Anakin asked.
The man walked closer to him.
"Why are you in my dream?" the man asked him.
Anakin looked shocked. "This is my dream".
"I'm Luke Skywalker by the way".
Anakin felt like he was going crazy. Skywalker. Skywalker wasn't a common name.
Anakin felt sure that since his mother had died, he was the only Skywalker left in the galaxy!
Anakin reached into The Force. He couldn't sense a lie from the other Skywalker. He was telling the truth.
Anakin stammered. "I-I have the same name like yours. My name is Anakin. Anakin Skywalker."
The man named Luke looked ready to faint. His eyes looked ready to pop out of their sockets.
Right now Anakin needed answers.
This man couldn't be that masked monster that served Palpatine in his galaxy! He didn't look anything like Darth Vader who had cut off his hand and tortured his friends and froze Han Solo in carbonite!
No! Luke was definitely going crazy.
As Luke searched Anakin's face for a lie he found none.
Luke felt joy take over his being. He was meeting his father before he become Vader.
This was his father. This was the father he was supposed to know. He should have known this father not Vader.
What had gone wrong?
Why had his father turned?
Luke looked at Anakin and struggled not to laugh.
His father looked really confused right now!
"I know what you are thinking. You're really confused why we have the same surname. Our features and our accents match. There is a reason. We are both related. Well, it seems I wasn't born yet in your time."
Anakin blinked trying to digest the information. They were definitely related. The resemblance between them was uncanny.
But what were they? Were they cousins or something?
Did Anakin have any aunts or uncles for the existence of a cousin? No!
What could it be?
The next words that the young man spoke answered his questions.
"I'm your son."
Anakin felt shock surge through his being. A son! This was his son! He had a son! Well, he would have a son!
Anakin grinned and embraced his son and pulled him close.
He kissed Luke's forehead, lovingly.
Luke meltled in his arms. This was the first time he was being hugged by his father.
Luke's joy increased when he felt Anakin pressed his lips to his forehead.
"Dad", Luke whispered.
"Son", Anakin whispered.
Luke felt tears well up in his eyes and then, spilling on his cheeks. His father had called him son.
Anakin noticed this and wiped the tears away with his thumb as gentle as he could.
Luke leaned into his touch as Anakin cupped his chin, studying him further.
"You have my eyes and hair", Anakin whispered.
"I'm glad that my son turned our to be a handsome man. I guess I have to keep you from the ladies", Anakin said jokingly, earning a blush from Luke.
"Your height must have come from your mother", Anakin said.
"My mother?" Luke repeated. "Can you tell me about her?"
Confusion flooded Anakin's face.
"You don't know anything about her?"Anakin asked, worry soaking his tone.
Luke mentally smacked himself.
"I never knew my mother. I don't even know her name". Luke told him hesitantly earning shock from Anakin.
Anakin gripped Luke's shoulders. "Tell me Luke. What happened to your mother? Luke, do you even know me in your galaxy?"
Luke looked into his father's eyes. "I was raised by Owen and Beru Lars on Tatooine. Ben had taken me to them when I was just a newborn baby".
"Who's Ben?" Anakin asked.
"Ben Kenobi well I think you know him better as Obi Wan Kenobi. He stayed nearby the moisture farm to protect me".
Obi Wan...
"Why did Obi Wan hide you on Tatooine? Luke, is there something evil happening in your galaxy?"
Luke nodded. "The Galactic Empire rules the galaxy. The Republic is no more. The Senate has been disbanded. The Jedi are all wiped out. There are only two left now, Master Yoda and I. Two Sith Lords rule the Empire. The first one is the Emperor. He is called Emperor Palpatine and his right hand's name his Darth Vader.
Anakin felt his jaw drop. Palpatine, a Sith Lord?
"Are you sure it's the former Chancellor Palpatine?" Anakin asked feeling fear grow in him.
"Yes," Luke nodded at his father.
Anakin turned as pale as a ghost. "We are quite close actually. He doesn't look like a Sith Lord".
"He is a Sith Lord! He's the reason the Jedi are gone," Luke cried.
"Continue the story", Anakin ordered.
"I was raised on Tatooine until the Empire killed Owen and Beru and burned the homestead to the ground. Obi Wan had told me everything. You see, before I knew the truth, I believed you were just a navigator on a spice fighter".
If the situation wasn't serious Anakin would have laughed.
"Me, a navigator on a spice fighter? Not a chance that is true".
"Ben then told me you were a Jedi and that you were betrayed and murdered by Obi Wan's apprentice, Darth Vader."
Anakin turned paler than ever.
"Obi Wan only has one apprentice and that is me".
Luke nodded. "Obi Wan lied to protect me. I joined the Rebellion to take down the Emperor. The Rebellion is led by Mon Mothma. I blew up their weapon. It's a battle station made to destroy planets. It was called the Death Star. Alderaan was blown into pieces because of it."
Pride took over and Anakin was hugging his son.
"You definitely are a hero Luke".
Luke smiled. "I'm a pilot. I'm commander of my squad called Rogue Squadron."
Anakin ruffled his hair affectionatly.
"I've been with the Rebellion ever since. I miss Ben sometimes. Darth Vader killed him on the Death Star."
Obi Wan...
No...
Anakin tried to put himself back together.
"Darth Vader captured my friends. I went to Bespin to save them. Darth Vader was using them as bait to get me."
"Why would Darth Vader want to get you?"
"I destroyed the Death Star. There is a bounty on my head that nearly half the galaxy is after me. I think it's also because Darth Vader wants an apprentice".
Anakin hugged Luke and pulled him close to his chest protectively.
"I would never let that monster lay even a finger on you!" Anakin snarled.
"The Sith and me dueled. He had set a trap to freeze me into carbonite. I escaped. So, we dueled and he had me beaten and had cut my hand off."
Anakin gasped in horror as Luke held up said hand.
Anakin grasped it and gave a comforting squeeze.
Luke wondered whether Anakin should find out about Vader being his father.
He deserves to know.
Maybe I can get him to prevent turning?
"Dad, the next piece of information may hurt you so try not to react badly okay?"
Anakin nodded and prepared himself.
"Darth Vader told me to join him to defeat Palpatine. He said that we could rule the galaxy together. He told me that...he was my father."
Anakin nearly fainted at this.
That can't be true. That's impossible.
"I would never become a Sith. I would never hurt you!"
Anakin grasped Luke artificial hand and looked into Luke's eyes that were a complete replica of his hand.
"I can't be a Sith in time. I can't have missed out my only baby's entire life and hurt him. I can't have done all those crimes!"
Luke placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. Anakin wrapped his arm around his son's shoulders and pulled him close.
"What happened to my wife, your mother?" Anakin asked in teary voice.
"I don't know. I think she died after giving birth to me. You don't even know I exist".
Anakin took a deep breath to calm himself.
He wouldn't let himself be a Sith. He wouldn't terrorize the galaxy with Palpatine.
Anakin kissed Luke's head before gesturing him to lay his head on his lap.
Luke nodded as Anakin sat down cross legged and put his head on Anakin's lap.
Anakin stroked Luke's hair, soothingly.
"You wanted to know about your mother. What do you want to know?"
"What was her name?"
"Padme Amidala. You look a bit like her. Your personality and that short stature came from her".
Padme Amidala...
Padme...
The name tasted sweet.
"She had pale skin and long, curly, chocolate brown hair and brown eyes. She's a Senator. The Nubian Senator. She was once elected queen of her planet when she was only fourteen years old."
"I wish I knew her," Luke said.
Anakin's caressed Luke's cheek. "I'll make sure you will."
"I love you, Dad".
Anakin smiled warmly at him.
"I love you, Son".
THE END
