He was there at all of their weddings.

He was there when they all had their first foals

He was there when they couldn't handle said foals

He was there for the next few they had

And then one day, he wasn't there…

Fluttershy had been the first to notice. It had started with a small cough and when she asked him about it, Discord had played it off as nothing. Soon enough, though, that one single cough turned into sporadic fits that left the Draconequus slightly dazed. Eventually, it got to where he could barely take a single breath without going into a fit. Something that every pony else began to notice.

"Are you alright?" Twilight had asked.

"I'm fine," Discord had replied curtly before going into one of his fits, "Just a random bug… It'll pass quickly enough."

But it didn't… Eventually, Discord got to where he would barely leave his home. He didn't eat, rarely slept, and didn't seem too much interested in causing chaos anymore. Something was definitely wrong… Very wrong…

When a month had passed with no sighting, Fluttershy and the others knew something was wrong. They went to Discord's home at the edge of Ponyville and found him, on the floor, just minutes from fading out forever. He thanked them all for giving him a good life, for being his friend and just being there in general, right up until the very end…

"I just don't understand," Fluttershy sobbed, "Why did you-"

"Because I've lived for thousands of years," Discord revealed, "And you all have given me something I didn't even know I was missing. It's time now that I say goodbye. Thank you, Fluttershy and thank you all."

And with that, the God of Chaos closed his eyes for a final time and blinked out of existence for good; sporting his trademark smirk.
