Back to the Story;

Macavity and Munkustrap were fighting as Marina crept up to the walls of the Junkyard, she managed to squeeze through a broken plank as she was so small and hid behind a pile of Junk.

"Father, no!" she whispered to herself. She didn't know these other cat's but she had to protect her father. She ran in between them just as Macavity went to hit Munkustrap and he caught her face. Marina looked up at him, her eyes filling with tears. Munkustrap backed out of the way.

"Marina, I'm sorry." said Macavity.

"No, you're not." she replied.

"I am. I didn't mean to hit you."

"No, you meant to hurt him," yelled Marina, pointing to Munkustrap, "and I know you'd like to do the same to most of them."

"Marina," he stood up and looked down at her, "go home."

"No, not this time, not ever again. Goodbye." she turned on her heel and ran out of the Junkyard, tears streaming down her face. Tugger slipped out of the Junkyard after her, making sure no one else noticed he'd left. He followed Marina to an alley. He found her hugging her knee's to her chest crying. She didn't move when he sat next to her.

"What are you going to do now?" he asked.

"Nothing." she replied, not looking at him.

"Well you can't go back to Macavity, where are you going to live now?"

"I'll find a nice alley or a good part of a forest. Why can't everyone leave me alone, you don't know what it's like Tugger." she said, looking up at him.

"How do you know my name?"

"It was a guess?" she said, trying to avoid looking at him.

"Truth?"

"I have magic," she sighed, starting to pace up and down the alley, "most cats think I'm a freak show."

"It's not freaky. Misto has magic. You know that."

"No, I didn't know that."

"You don't know who Misto is?"

"No."

"Where have you been living anyway?"

"At my Father's lair."

"Your Father?"

"Macavity." She sneezed two times and sat down.

"You don't sound too well, you should come to the Junkyard."

"I'll be fine." she sneezed again. Tugger picked her up gently and carried her back to the Junkyard. When he got there the twins, Tantomile and Coricopat, put her in their home to sleep.

"Tugger, why did you bring her back?" asked Munkustrap, several hours later.

"She isn't well and she needs a home. She's such a small kitten."

"Yes, she does need a home, but not here."

"Why not?"

"Do you know who she is?"

"Yes, she said she's Mac's daughter."

"And he'll be back for her, you have to think of the tribe."

"You're the one always talking about helping other cats."

"Please," said Marina's soft voice, as she came towards them, "don't fight over me, Munkustrap, you are almost the leader, I'll listen to you. If you don't want me to stay I'll live in the alley's."

"No, You can stay," said Munkustrap, giving in, he looked at Tugger, "she's your responsibility." Tugger nodded and turned to Marina.

"Come on, I'll take you to my home."

"Thank you Tugger." she said gratefully.
