Mistakes were made, but at least we have each other

Summary: Natasha will always be by Steve's side, even through the tough times. (RomanRogers post IW, post Endgame)

For the longest time Natasha had been the shoulder for Steve to lean on when things got rough, when things turned out for the worst, she was there, always had been, Steve wondered what he ever did to deserve someone like Nat, someone who deeply cared for those she cared about, worried for their safety and health, she was a hard shell to crack when Steve had first met her, but as time went on Nat became softer, friendlier, kinder, and Steve couldn't be any more proud with how far she has come.

But with the recent events that happened after Thanos, she had closed herself off, though Steve couldn't blame her, they had lost their friends, their family, they couldn't get in contact with Tony, if he's even alive out there, it hurt him knowing that Tony was out there somewhere, probably injured, or even worse, and Steve wasn't there to help him.

He wouldn't be able to forgive himself if Tony died, yes it wouldn't have been his fault, but he wouldn't have been able to apologize for the horrible things that he did, for the way he treated Tony, he wanted to apologize, to fix their broken friendship, and if Tony died he wouldn't be able to do all of those things.

"I can hear your thoughts you know." Steve glanced over his shoulder, he smiled a little when he saw Natasha standing in the door way of his room. "We'll save him..you know that right?, just because things ended terrible between you two, doesn't mean we're that cold hearted to let Tony die alone somewhere." Natasha said softly, she went to go sit down next to Steve, her hand resting on his knee.

"You always seem to know what to say Nat." He whispered, closing his eyes for a moment when he felt the former assassin rest her head on his shoulder, her hand rubbing his knee comfortingly.

"I think it's my job to know what to say when you're feeling sad." Natasha smiled a bit a she tried to cheer up the former soldier. "You're not alone Steve, you have me." Natasha said, she cupped his chin so they were staring into each others eyes.

"Don't beat yourself up over this okay?, you tend to do that often.."Steve closed his eyes when he felt Natasha's fingers brush his cheek. "Thank you..for always being here for me..even when I don't deserve you." He said in a quiet tone, as if it was meant for her to hear and only her.

Natasha leaned forward, their foreheads pressed against each others, she would always be there to comfort Steve, even if he thinks he doesn't deserve it. She would always try and prove him wrong, that he deserved just as much as anyone else.
