I wrote this one on 8/13/07, around the time we went to Chicago (after? I forget) and I was comtemplating some people confusing "abuse" with "love". This is the product of those thoughts. I shoud hope you agree with me, but if you don't, that's alright, too. I just felt like I needed to get this out of my head before I forgot it forever.

Abuse. Love. Do they go hand in hand? With the world's definitions of "love," I suppose they do. But the world is messed up, as evident by all the immorality, killing, and abuse we hear about. God's definition of love is much better.

You cannot say you love your parents if you are not respecting them. Love equals many things, but not abuse. "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." (First Corinthians chapter 13, verses four through eight.)

God is love. He loved the world so much He sent His only son to die a criminal's death when Jesus was totally innocent. And He did it. Jesus died a painful death, even though He didn't want to die. But Jesus did it anyway, because His Father asked Him to, and because He knew there was a good reason behind His death.

Does that sound like the world's definition of love to you?

There ya have it. Two hundred and five words. Agree? Disagree? Want to complain? Feel free to let me know. But flames with be used to stoke the fires of my imagination for other stories and poems. :P
