Tony pulled up at the now widowed Mrs. Barry's house just outside of D.C. He knocked on her front door only to find it open. Mrs. Barry sat on the couch with her badge in her hands. Tony new it must be hard to know that your husband was killed in the line of duty on the first day she wasn't there to have his back. The first day of her personal leave because of her pregnancy. Now she would raise the soon to be born child on her own.

"Mrs. Barry?"

She looked up at Tony while trying to pull a straight face.

"Agent DiNozzo. It is uhm .. Nice to meet you again."

Mrs. Barry, or detective Barry had worked with the team a few times whenever there was a need to involve Homicide. Tony had a natural connection with her because of his past of working homicide.

"Have you told her this morning, Agent DiNozzo?"

Tony looked up.

"Have you told Agent David this morning?"

He sighed then. And thought about the fight they had that morning. About how they had driven to work in silence."No. I haven't."

Mrs. Barry then stood from her chair and walked to the chimney. She looked at the wedding picture.

"We take them and our words for granted. We don't say how we truly feel in the moment because, we take that moment for granted and think we'll have another chance. And sometimes we don't. And they will never know."

Tony drove back to the Navy Yard with one thing on his mind. Ziva David. He was gonna tell her something alright. It was spontaneous and probably insane, the chances of her answer being yes were small considering the way he had treated her that morning. The way he had yelled at her and been so stubborn. He hated fighting with her. But only because when they fought, he just wanted to beat himself up for hurting her. Even if she was the one to start the fight, he would hate himself for being in a fight with her. And somehow, if he had to fight with someone for the rest of his life, he wanted it to be her.

He stopped at their apartment quickly. Because he wasn't going through with this without a ring. He had bought it just before she moved in because he knew deep down that was where they were headed. That this was it.
Tony arrived at the bullpen to find only Abby sitting at McGee's desk. She told him that they had all left to follow a lead on detective Barry's killer. Apparently it was drug related.
Tony then sat down at his desk and waited. Waited for the elevator doors to open and see her walk towards him. Because he sure was gonna run right up to her and tell her how much he loved her. He turned his attention to her desk and thought about how lovely it would be to see her sit there every day with a ring on her finger. Little did he know that the desk would never again be occupied by Special Agent Ziva David. She would never return to that desk. She would never return. At all.
