A/N. It's happening again. CSI:NY is back on my TV and my muses are going nuts. Another one-shot based on an episode. This time it's 8.02 "Keep It Real"- Adam bet that Mac wasn't coming back to the lab. So… this:

"You didn't think I was coming back?" All Mac got in reply was a shrug as Adam tried to turn his body away. Reaching out, Mac took Adam's arm and made the younger man turn back.

"People leave," Adam eventually spoke; his eyes were downcast and his voice was too quiet for Mac's liking. "It's what they do."

"Hey. Look at me." Adam obeyed and Mac put a gentle hand on the side of his face. "I never left you, Adam. Even if I leave the lab one day, I'm not leaving you." Adam made a small sound in the back of his throat, pulling Mac into a kiss as his tears began to fall. Mac went willingly, pulling Adam down onto the bed with him.

(*~*~*~*)

"I'm a jinx," Adam's voice drew Mac's attention in the dark. The younger man was drawing patterns on Mac's chest as he spoke. Mac tightened his arm around Adam to indicate he was listening and Adam continued. "I bet on the Cardinals and they lose. My favourite on American Idol always gets voted off first." Adam paused for a long moment and Mac felt a soft kiss to his right pectoral. "I figured if I bet that you weren't coming back…" Mac smiled to himself, pressing a kiss into Adam's hair. Adam responded by tightening his arm around Mac's waist; a happy sigh escaping.

The End.
