Disclaimer: I don't own anything, not the characters (who belong to Baz) or the song, ( a lullaby that I have know idea who sung it.)

A/N: I wrote this with 'You are My Sunshine,' because that was my lullaby when I was little and it's got a special place in my heart, so it just seemed right that Christian sang it to Satine.

Christian loved everything about her, every smile, every laugh, and every sob. It was her, and he loved her. But she was gone, her heart and soul wasn't there. He would never see another smile, hear another laugh or comfort another sob. She was dead. Gone from his grasp . . . forever.

Christian sobbed again, just when he thought he'd cried all his tears. It wasn't so.

Zidler came over, tried to pry him away from her.

"She's dead Christian," He said pulling on his arms.

"Let me go Zidler." He whispered. His voice was dripping with pain. How could this have happened.

"Let her go Christian!" Zidler tried again.

"Don't touch me!" Christian shouted and shook him off.

Zidler backed away. He'd never loved and lost, he didn't know the heartache his writer was going through.

And so everyone around the dead diamond and the shattered poet watched as he spoke the last words Christian would ever utter in her ear.

"You are my sunshine," He sang softly to her. "My only sunshine."

As he continued with his song, people around him paid their last respects, dropping flowers they had picked from the floor and laying them at her feet, careful to avoid the sobbing man.

"You don't know dear, how much I love you." He continued, refusing to believe this was the end.

The last one was Nini, the beautiful courtesan was red eyed and seemingly broken. She laid a single white rose at Satine's feet. "Your favorite." She added. Then, she walked around and sat besides Christian.

But he wasn't aware of her, he was in his own world. The world that he and Satine belonged to, and only them.

"Please don't," He choked, how could he say this? "Please don't take my sunshine away." He breathed, lips against her forehead. Tears wet her pale white skin.

"I loved her, Nini. I loved her so much." He said, his eyes unwavering from the dead body.

"'Aye. I know Shakespeare." She said, putting her hand awkwardly on his back. "I loved her too."

He nodded and looked up at her, his eyes gleaming with unshed tears. "I know."

He threw himself at her, seeking comfort in her. Nini stiffened, what was she supposed to do?

"I miss her so much." He sobbed onto her Hindu Diamonds costume.

And then she realized that he just wanted to be held.

'I can do that.' She thought to herself.

And so, for the rest of the night and into the early hours of the day, Nini held Christian.

A/N: What do you think? You cry?
